“Elseworlds” Video – Superman and Lois Lane in the Fortress of Solitude

SPOILER WARNING – Do not read the following if you haven’t watched all three parts of the “Elseworlds” crossover.

In the third and final episode of The CW’s “Elseworlds” crossover event (which aired on Tuesday, December 11 in the USA), Clark Kent tells his cousin Kara Danvers that he and Lois Lane are going back to Argo City, as Lois is pregnant with their baby. Under a red sun, Lois will be able to safely carry the baby (part human, part Kryptonian) to full term.

Sharing some time alone at Superman’s Fortress of Solitude, the Man of Steel is distracted with his thoughts while cooking a BBQ. Seems he has a lot on his mind, as he uses some of the coal in the BBQ to fashion a diamond for a ring he has ready. He gets down on one knee, and Lois jumps into his arms before he even has the opportunity to ask the question. The two are to be married!

Definitely got some vibes from Superman II and from Smallville’s 100th episode in that final Fortress scene. And if you go to the post about Bitsie Tulloch’s IGs, in the final photo you can see they clearly took inspiration from Margot Kidder’s flowy blue gown from the first movie when designing the gown this Lois wore.

Now, with this crossover concluded, I am cautiously optimistic that The CW will give the green light for either a full Superman series or a mini-series.

Unfortunately along with the Margot Kidder inspired dress we also got a substandard impersonation too. Oh Bitsie, I was so wanting to se you knock it out of the park but instead got a foul.

On HBO, new cast, new writers, new world.
That’s how I’d want it done, but it won’t happen.

My ideal scenario would be to do a limited series or mini-series (six to ten episodes) just to flesh out Superman’s origin a little more. There’s a lot we know, but a lot we don’t know, too. What were his younger days like? How did he end up joining the Legion? When did he decide to become Earth-38’s original protector?

Don’t get me wrong I LOVE Superman’s origin story but kind of like with Spider-Man’s origin a lot of the good will for seeing it has been burned out by too many retellings or reboots within a short span of time. That’s even before you add on 10 years of Smallville.

Really I think any relaunch of Superman in tv or film might be better served by just starting more or less in media res with origin details distributed through flashbacks.

Maybe a summer run for the off seasons. From May to August. That way it would solve the issue of too many superhero shows on every week during the year.
Tyler’s Superman has a fan base. So it wouldn’t be hard for them to get viewers. I hope it happens someday soon.

Most likely only in a mini series on the DC streaming service.

Ugh, she’s one of the worst Lois performances by far and IMO Tyler is sliding down the ranking too (if him it’s mostly due to writing). I get that it’s Supergirl’s time to shine and it’s her show but they completely make Superman look foolish. ie. If he’s having some alone time in the fortress, why the hell is he wearing the tights? He’s utilized even worse than JLAU. Hopefully Crisis on Infinite Earths will be a chance to fix and shake this up a bit. With earth-90 existing it may be an interesting idea to merge and mix the… Read more »
