“Elseworlds” Teaser – The Monitor and The Flash on Earth-90

At the end of Sunday night’s “Supergirl” episode The CW aired the following teaser for the upcoming “Elseworlds” crossover event.

Set on Earth-90 (possibly as a tribute to the 1990s “Flash” TV series), John Wesley Shipp’s version of The Flash crawls out of the devestation that has befallen his Earth. Amongst the rubble we can see fallen superheroes such as Stargirl, Firestorm, Captain Cold, and remnants of costumes like The Ray’s helmet… and what appears to be Justin Hartley’s Green Arrow from “Smallville”.

The Flash crawls towards a giant book… which is picked up by The Monitor who tells The Flash, “You failed”. When The Flash asks him why he’s doing this, The Monitor replies, “You did this to yourself… and now all of you will perish”. The Flash speeds away, presumably to seek help on other Earths across the Multiverse.

The special 3-night “Elseworlds” crossover event will begin in “The Flash” on Sunday, December 9 at 8.00pm ET, and then continue in “Arrow” on Monday, December 10 at 8.00pm ET, and will conclude with “Supergirl” on Tuesday, December 11 at 8.00pm ET.

Anyone catch the snippet of the 1990 Flash theme at the end? Nothing like a little Danny Elfman to get your attention.

Yes. That’s what I heard too. The whole flash scene really put a smile on my face.

– Yes, I heard that snippet of Danny Elfman’s 1990s Flash theme. It got me even more pumped up to see this 3-day crossover event.

YES, YES and YES!! That was dynamite. I’m hoping that this crossover doesn’t go flat. This has better elements than the previous crossovers.

(On a personal level, I’m hoping that the Legends of T DOES NOT show up in this crossover. They do not belong in this)

It’s a 3-night crossover for a reason. Not a 4-night crossover.

I did. That is also an iconic theme. When I used to watch Flash 1990 and every time that lightning insignia pops up at the beginning of the episode and then queue to Danny Elfman’s Titel theme, it always gave me goose bumps.

So, I’ve got two theories as to where those other heroes come from. Let me know what you think. 1) The Obvious One: They are other heroes from the 90’s Flash’s world, and they just debuted after the series ended. Any similarity other depictions of those heroes is just down to multiversal, um… harmony, or something, lol. OR… 2) My Hope: They are a collection of heroes from other worlds (meaning that IS SMALLVILLE’s Green Arrow) and they teamed up to stop the Monitor and lost. BUT… here’s the twist: The Monitor is the one who brought them together, not… Read more »

If that was the Smallville Earth’s Green Arrow (and Dark Archer apparently) then it could mean that the Smallville Earth and its Superman have already been affected …or destroyed.

What an end to last night’s Supergirl ep. And I think I did hear Danny Elfman’s theme for The Flash. These extras may be called Easter Eggs. But given how we are three weeks away from Christmas, can they be called “Presents” or “stocking stuffers?”

Just asking.
