Dwayne Johnson

Variety reports that Dwayne Johnson has been cast to voice the role of Krypto the super dog in the upcoming “DC League of Super-Pets” movie.

The animated DC film centers on Superman’s dog, who teams up with a flying cat to stop crime while the Man of Steel is on vacation.

Based on characters like Krypto the Super Dog, Streaky the Super Cat, Beppo the Super Monkey and Comet the Super Horse, the Super Pets concept has been around since “Adventure Comics #293” (dated February 1962), and have also been seen in animated form across a number of cartoon and animated series over the years.

Scheduled to be released in theaters on May 20, 2022, the animated film will be written and directed by Jared Stern, with Sam Levine to co-direct.

While no other voice cast members have yet to be announced, Johnson is also producing the movie through his company Seven Bucks Productions, along with his partners Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia.

Additional producers include Patricia Hicks, Jared Stern. John Requa, Glenn Ficarra and Nicholas Stoller are executive producing the film.
