The Rock: “We hear you.”
Well what about my voice? I’ve been saying “ Give Brandon Routh’s Superman a streaming series or movie trilogy apart from the DCEU. We have more than one Batman, we can have more than one Superman too.” yet no one at WB is addressing me or the other Brandon Routh fans who have also asked for Brandon Routh’s Superman to return. Brandon Routh Superman fans are being ignored and neglected Mr. Rock. 🙁

Wb or at least the previous regime don’t respect Supes, sorry to tell ya spidey! Rock had to fight for this and they reluctantly gave in and while I’m happy he’s back, I don’t want him to play second fiddle or punching bag to black Adam. I do have faith that since Dwayne came from wrestling he knows how to put people over and how to build up a rivalry properly. I’m cautiously optimistic going forward, but make no mistake, This is great news as Hamada, Ann Sarnoff and Toby emmerichs plans were to kill superman as a baby and… Read more »

I’m happy for you sundevil82, I really am, but when the Rock said that he’s listening to fans, I can’t help but think he means only Henry Cavill Superman fans and not all Superman fans. Excluding the fans who aren’t Cavill Superman fans. So while he may have fought hard for Cavill’s Superman, I just get the impression that he didn’t fight hard for every version of Superman or didn’t fight for them at all.

When you say Henry Cavill Superman fans, do you mean the one created by Snyder?

Like that specific version?

When Discovery came in they said their main priority was revitalizing Superman as brand.
As a whole.
On ALL platforms.
(They are not using Snyder’s crest to establish a Superman franchise.)

I am saying that The Rock got Cavill to come back not for just fans of him but fans of SUPERMAN as a whole.
The Rock has been fighting for the brands of DC. Not so much the actors. And The Rock wants to see Black Adam fight a Superman.
Things have to be building up to something big like he said.
Fans have been asking for more than just Cavill. Superman fans have been demanding more.
DC fans have been demanding that DC act like DC for once.

Is Jim Lee still working for DC? Because I remember during the DC fandom event, Jim teased an image of crisis on infinite earths. So was there a Crisis movie planned? Is it still in play or has DC/WB canceled any plans for that now that Discovery is in control?

I wouldn’t know. The multiverse has been in shows and animated projects, but hasn’t been done in a movie before. I mean the commercials for the Flash film is heavily implying that we will see a Multiverse event of some kind, but is it a crisis event? I don’t know. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Pre 1985 in comics there was the “Infinite Earths” concept. Meaning the story is important as a whole but is not connected to an Earth-Prime.
And when they were putting it in motion, they hid clues in their comics until the event happened.

Well in Superman and Lois’s defense, it was pretty obvious that the series couldn’t be in the same universe as the Arrowverse shows from the start of the series. There were just too many inconsistencies with this series compared to when the main characters were on Supergirl’s series and in the crossovers. For example, Superman proposing to Lois Lane in the Fortress of solitude for their show was not the same as it was in the else worlds crossover a few years back. Another prime example that I can give is in the events of the first season finale for… Read more »

And as far as I’m aware of, it hasn’t been exactly page for page or scene for scene for any such adaptation for comic to movie or movie to comic. Embrace the Multiverse, my friend. That’s what the “DCEU” should be. Having an Infinite Earths formula in live-action works in favor for them VS the comics. Here’s the thing about Brandon Routh’s movie. It’s called Superman Returns for a reason. It’s supposed to be an extension from Christopher Reeve’s Superman 2. So he is playing an extension to Superman from 1978. The third movie- technically making it a “trilogy”. (One could insert the Infinite Earths formula here) So where did Superman 3 and 4: The Quest For Peace go? (Insert Infinite Earths formula) Michael Keaton played Batman twice. In all honesty. I really can’t follow what you’re saying. I mean no offense, but I just don’t understand what you are saying. Are you saying that every Superman will eventually meet? If you are saying that eventually Hoechlin’s Superman would meet Cavill’s and Routh’s Superman for a multiverse movie event, then I would hope that you’re right. In my honest opinion, the view of having only one actor playing the part of Superman at a time I think is dated. I mean why wait two or three years for the next installment of a Superman movie franchise when having a series to keep fans happy and entertained while they wait for the next film? They could even rotate between Superman actors for movies. One year it’s a Cavill Superman film. Then the following year, it’s Routh’s Superman who gets a film. Then Cavill gets a film a year later. And then it goes back to Routh and… Read more »

But he should not be connected to Christopher Reeve. He can have some of the themes created by Reeve’s version of Superman. From the Fortress of Solitude to John Williams music themes. I don’t think Cavill’s Superman merging with Reeve’s Superman makes sense to me. And I would think that there would be some Superman fans like myself who would be taken aback by this if they did go down that route. Well I haven’t heard of any fan making that kind of complaint. If anything, I’ve heard of some Superman complaining that when Superman Returns came out that Routh was too much like Reeve and wanted a different take. Ironically the opposite was true for Cavill. To different and nothing like Reeve. But then Routh’s Superman had mostly positive opinions about his Superman. It was the direction that Singer took the character that was an issue.

Not entirely. See Routh’s continuity was made to be part of Reeve’s continuity . Cavill’s Superman never was. Zack Snyder wanted to start from scratch when he made Man of steel. So if what you’re suggesting is true, then Cavill would replace any existence of Christopher Reeves’s Superman. And I think a lot of Superman fans including myself would not be happy about that.

The difference that I would say is that Routh’s Superman tried to continue Reeve’s Superman, he wasn’t replacing him. If the Flash Movie has Cavill’s Superman merging with Christopher Reeve’s superman because of some multiverse event, then that would mean he’s replacing Christopher Reeve’s Superman. And I think a lot of people would not be happy about that. Cavill is not a continuation of Reeve where as Routh is.

Physical Templates.
They can look like one Superman, have the history of another version, to make an equation of a specific Superman.
Universes end.
Even the ones that have the templates or Routh and Reeve.
Universes, also by a Crisis, can be altered.
But there is nothing right now to explain Cavill’s importance during one.
Technically, also not Reeve as well. It wasn’t his template standing in the battle of the Multiverse.

Well they cast older actors to play younger characters all the time. Henry could still play a 30ish year old Superman while Routh plays a 50ish year old Superman. And from what we’ve seen of Henry’s Superman throughout the movies, he’s inexperienced. Whereas Routh’s Superman is literally supposed to be older and more experienced than him. Let’s not forget, he’s a version of Reeve’s Superman. He’s been around longer. Therefore he can give advice on where he needs to improve on his Superman. Maybe tell him his own mistakes so that Henry could learn from them.

Why use a cgi Reeve when Routh is an actor who has proven to fill Reeve’s boots? A cgi Reeve would be to Erie and possibly to creepy to attempt . Look at what they did with Admiral Tarken in Rogue One. That actor passed away years ago, and it was just unsettling to see him brought back through cgi. And quite frankly I think it’s tasteless to do especially for Reeve’s Superman.

It’s also very special that our Multiverse is not just a Multiverse of characters, it’s a Multiverse of films. It’s a cinematic Multiverse as you might already know by looking at the names that are showing up like Michael Keaton reprising his role as Batman, it’s very exciting and one of the reasons that I got closer and closer to this project.”

That’s what I’m trying to do with #SupermanInTheMultiverse.
I have a ton of posts for that hashtag on Twitter. I really don’t know how many I have at this point actually.

As far as I know, WB has made no plans to do that as a movie. If you have a source on that please let me know.

Why do you think it has to be THAT story? Why can’t it be a continuation and ending to the actual event?

Dark Crisis? I don’t know. You brought it up.

Dark Crisis? I am saying why do you think it has to have the history in live action to even get there? I am saying why can’t a Crisis live-action movie be the finale to that actual comic event?

Movies rarely if ever make live direct adaptations from comics. I can’t think of one movie that is a direct adaptation page for page made into a film. I don’t know if watchmen counts because I’ve never seen the comic book which it is based on.

Now this would take proper planning to actually do.
It’s just assumed it’s the TV version of the 1985 comic event.

To tell the truth, it’s hard for me to keep track with what happened in Barry’s timeline. I don’t even know how many times he’s traveled into the past and changed things.

I actually believe The Flash movie is a Superman mystery story. So yeah, they will meet.
And there probably is a Crisis already being filmed.
The Crisis the movies create would have to built within whatever The Flash movie sets up as a unified multiverse.
And yes, there can be more than one Superman going at the same time. But within reason.
Videogames also count. Cartoons count. Anything Superman counts. ANYTHING.
Not ONE. All count.

If you’re saying that you think that there will be a crossover of Routh’s and Cavill’s and other versions of Superman in the Flash film, then I hope you’re right. Unfortunately I get the feeling that’s not what we’re going to see. I for one don’t think it’s unreasonable for Routh, Cavill and Hoechlin to all be playing Superman at the same time for their own projects or for a crossover. We haven’t had a Superman cartoon for a while, so we’re due one. And as for video games, I really want a good one. One that surpasses the Batman… Read more »

You know that Snyder’s whole trilogy is a Multiverse engine story?
His three movies are part of a Multiverse Saga.
What I am showing you is LEGIT. Try it for yourself.
One screen. Two movies.
Superman on top, Man of Steel on bottom.
Start at exact same time so the timestamps line up exactly.
When you do this, it will look like this.

Keaton gets a third movie called Batman Beyond.
Cavill gets a sequel called Superman Forever.
(Made this on the 10th of this month. Posted it on Twitter. Made it really look hand drawn for a reason. Black Adam inspired. Fans don’t draw symbols wrong. Even fans in a fictional world with a Superman)

I’ve been even pushing for Keaton’s Batman. I’ve been saying if we can have multiple versions of Batman in the theaters then we can have multiple versions of Superman too.

Hey. Can we take a step back for a minute here and bask in the fact we are going hardcore on Superman again?
He is in the spotlight. This is awesome.
I joined this site sometime between 2010-2013. I was hardcore with Smallville from the day it aired to the day it ended. Christopher Reeve’s Superman was my babysitter.
It took Cavill to get me to talk about Superman, let alone any franchise, online.

This site should be jumping by I believe…December of this year. We will get a movie announcement. Late December.

Well I’m happy for you that you have a superman that you enjoy seeing. I’ve always gone by the belief that everyone should have a version of Superman that they love and enjoy. So if you’re happy then that’s great. I’m currently happy with the show Superman and Lois. I would love it if Brandon Routh would come back to the superman Role though.

Lois is the key.”
-The Flash Batman V Superman
I guarantee you something about that ties back to Superman: The Movie and time travel.
So yes. Continuity can be completely erased.
Also, I love the series Superman & Lois. That show should be your guide to “Superman” in the Multiverse right now considering he is the only Live-Action version actually in play.
Because of the Multiverse and a Crisis.

You lost me on that one. I mean Superman the movie had time travel and so did BvS and Snyder’s JL, but unless the writer or director specifically said it’s connected, then it mostly likely isn’t I would think. Of course there’s been a change in regime for DC movies, so who knows?

Superman 1 and 2 was filmed at the same time. They pulled the time travel act in the first movie because they thought the first would flop.
It would have ended on a cliffhanger.
Superman 2 would have had him easing all the events of the first two movies starting a timeline completely over. Which he did in the first movie.

This means something.
The movies Snyder did are perfectly synced in ways that can only imply there is some type of merge going on or did go on. I don’t know.
Time travel can be weird.

“There was a time above. A time before. There were perfect things. Diamond absolutes. Things fall. Things on Earth. And what falls, is fallen.”
