Details Emerge of Never-Made Superman Video Games

Video game writer James Sigfield took to Twitter to divulge information about recent never-made Superman video games that were in development… but ultimately cancelled.

While rumors have been circulating for some years now about a Superman game being developed by Rocksteady, the video maker has denied those rumors, with speculation that yet another Batman video game will soon be announced.

Sigield revealed that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has been trying to develop an “open world” Superman game since 2013, posting images of tentative designs along with some details.

A game tentatively titled “Superman: Unbound” is said to have been in the works, based on the comic book story (and animated movie) of the same name.

Unfortunately, it looks like Superman fans will have to remain patient a while longer for a Superman video game to be announced.

Sigh….
What could’ve been. Looks like we aren’t getting a decent Superman video game any time soon. How very disappointing.

Sigh… Typical of WB, blinded by money/greed. Movies: requires all movies to be dark and gritty. Games: requires all games to have the Arkham engine. They need to understand that Superman and Batman are two very different characters. So that means Superman needs to have his own game engine that works around his characters with some elements taken from the Arkham series. Examples: Detective mode: X-ray vision Riddler: Mr. Mxyzptlk. Be able to visit the batcave in Origins: Be able to travel to Smallville, Fortress and a section of space or moon. This makes me wish Disney would take DC… Read more »

I would like to add, the people who replaced those who was in charge of the license at WB was responsible for causing Superman 64 to be the worst game ever. (https://www.retrojunk.com/article/show/5471/the-story-behind-superman-64)

By the way, Steve why can’t we edit our comments after a while?

Yup. People with NO experience in Video games telling video game experts how to do their job… Im a sculptor and working for big licenses is the worst. Everyone onn the review board has to nitpick something to justify their job. Ending up with….well….the recent sonic movie issue is a perfect example.

I would really love to see someone do for Superman for what the recent PS4 game did for Spider-Man.

A game called Superman: Unbound can’t be based in the comic book (and animated movie) of the same name because Superman: Unbound was based in the comic book Superman: Brainiac.
