Deleted “Justice League” Superman Scene Running Time

With the upcoming release of “Justice League” on Blu-ray/DVD and digital download, Superman fans were excited to learn that a special feature included in the bonus material included in the home video release was a scene titled “The Return of Superman”.

Reports are that that sequence only runs for 1 minute, 52 seconds. It’s unclear just what this sequence will reveal. Many have speculated that it would show the conversation between Superman and Alfred hinted at during trailers for the film. It will see Superman retrieving his costume in one way or another.

Warner Bros. Pictures’ and DC Entertainment’s epic action adventure “Justice League” is arriving in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital. Directed by Zack Snyder, the film stars the famed lineup of DC Super Heroes: Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.

Own it early on Digital on February 13 Blu-ray debuts on March 13.

It was really disappointing not seeing what was shown in the trailers. I felt that those missing scenes would have made the film a wee bit better. All in all, the movie was fun.

I Agree but I bet with all of the footage left at the cutting room floor & never used &/or replaced/reshot, there was probably potential to have a movie that would have rivaled The Avengers. My guess is WB was sitting on a goldmine but didn’t know how to process the gold (so to speak) & it all came down to not putting the pieces together to make the best possible movie with ALL footage at their disposable and with a dictated constraint of 120 min (including end credits) that also hampered that. Granted there were other factors, like Zack’s… Read more »

Exactly car2nst. That’s what I have been thinking a while ago. DC should be way better off concentrating on their own studio away from all the meddlings and interventions from parent studios. It’s like being a parent who thinks they know what’s best for their kid, and the kid turns out alright and being right all along. Sure…every New beginning from a fledgling studio is due to either a hit and/or miss, yet with the right team at the helm and the most creative of people who love DC to the very core and knowing the source material inside and… Read more »

Yes indeed, they truly do need their own studio, WB is really ticking me off with meddling. If they were already their own separate entity and were putting out nothing but bombs, then fine meddle, but I feel the reason they are bombing is for the reasons you stated

After all that’s been said one has to conclude that there was no completed version from Zack. He left before he finished key scenes that would have completed it. In comes JossW. Not only did he have to make it finished, but he had to complete someone else’s movie. And keep it at 2 hours. Why do you think there were the re-shoots? Yes, there’s probably some footage that wouldn’t have made sense on the floor that would have, if Zack had completed his version. So trying to stick the scenes back into what JossW had done wouldn’t have worked… Read more »

The only extra scene on the bluray lasts only 1 min and 52 seconds long? That’s some weak sauce! Release the Snyder cut! And it doesn’t matter how fragmented or unfinished it may be. We want to see it.

Think about this. What would we be seeing? Most of the JL IS Snyder’s! You can pick out JossW’s work any place that he directed and re-shot. Say that they take the JL as it is now and remove all of JossW’s work. Then they take the parts from Zack that were cut out and some how re-edit those back in. Now all these re-edited scenes mixed with the rest of the movie are in place and don’t make any sense because the rest of what’s missing to give them continuity doesn’t exist. I as well want to see a… Read more »

In no way do I want the WB to re-edit the movie as you suggest. That would indeed be silly. However, multiple versions of movies are released on blurays all the time, eg., BvS, Blade Runner, etc. I and many others would simply like to see Snyder’s cut even if it is unfinished and lacks continuity and special effects. Someone could record an introductory video to explain to the viewer that this is Snyder’s unfinished version. The bluray could include previsualizations, concept art and incomplete scenes. For instance, WB released a scene with the Flash and Iris West where he… Read more »

The added scene is actually just 1 minute, and 52 seconds of Superman staring into a mirror wondering why his mouth looks so stupid.

Let me bring one other issue up about what ZS had accomplished before he left. Although his reason for leaving was valid it MIGHT also be that he had indeed completed the JL. But the powers at the WB didn’t like it. So they use his leaving as an excuse to bring JossW in and re direct the entire movie to the direction of the WB heads. It’s too dark, make it lighter. It’s too long, make it shorter. There’s not enough lightness in tone, make some humor happen. Take Superman’s role in this. If Snyder hadn’t of completed Superman’s… Read more »

One could also say that there never was a singularly ZS version. By this website’s reporting, JW came in well before ZS stepped down. Joss was working with Zach for most of the shoot. And by Zack’s own admission the tone was supposed to be significantly lighter, as was the plan from the start, so i don’t know what everyone is expecting from a ZS cut.

Mr. Snyder seems to distance himself from the film…and probably from Warner Bros. in general. Can’t say I blame him. Last year when it was revealed about his daughter’s tragedy, he seemed pretty much drained and tired and looked physically frail. It also disgusted me when certain fans made fun of his daughter’s suicide because the film underperformed. No matter what film he has made, he is still a human being with feelings and emotions, and it is just plain wrong to make fun of something like that. I wish him nothing bit the best. When the time comes he… Read more »

That’s what I use Youtube for, really. I’ve made my feelings on this clear before; either go back and stitch together Snyder’s work, assuming enough material exists (and it might), or do a proper extended version. I know they won’t, for a hundred reasons, but I have literally no interest in renting or purchasing this version of the movie for one lousy deleted scene in the extras.
