Warner Bros. revealed a bit of extra information about the “Justice League” movie in their 2017 movie preview press kit, including the cast list, which includes Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.
Connie Nielsen, who plays Queen Hippolyta in “Wonder Woman”, is also listed amongst the cast.

I like Jesse Eisenberg as an actor. And I love Lex Luthor as a character and as Superman’s villain. Though his performance was good, I think Jesse Eisenberg didn’t portray Lex Luthor properly. My hope for the character of the Lex Luthor that’s been established in the DC Cinematic Universe is that, after being sent to Arkham Asylum, he’ll become more of the smooth, calculating Lex Luthor we’re all used to. Hopefully we’ll get a glimpse of that in “Justice League.”
When round one sucks to many…expect a better performance at round two.

We’re talking about JE’s portrayal of LL. And while many had their issues regarding his performance and say that he sucks as Lex, I personally didn’t mind. Was his portrayal what I, you, or anyone else expected it to be? Surely not. It was a new take on the character that left many wondering and pandering and squabbling what was that all about??? That ain’t my Lex Luthor blablablaaaaa yakityyak and all. He was weird that’s for sure. He reminded me more of Jim Carrey’s Edward Nigma than Lex Luthor.
Although Carrey has had a few memorial performances, Eisenberg’s Luthor is far above anything that Carrey has done. If you want to be reminded of how someone can butcher a role just look at the Riddler (and Tommy Lee for that matter) in the Batman movie. Two totally buffoon performances.
Jim Carrey may not have performed the role of the riddler as portrayed in the comics, but it was fun and enjoyable to watch while Jesse Eisenberg Lex Luthor was extremely awkward to watch not only was the lex Luthor role not portrayed right the acting was horrific as if he was just a bum they hired off the streets.
Nope……fun to watch?????? If you would say that his performance was fun to watch then you have little to no credibility critiquing JE’s portrayal of LL. In fact the whole movie was a lesson in endurance to see. Not sure which one was worse. That one or the next with Cloony. Both atomic bombs and have no comparisons to the professional way that BvS was made and portrayed.

The Absolutely worse lex Luthor actor EVER!!The superman vs batman movie portrayed lex Luthor as a stupid spoiled brat who wanted to have “FUN”.Lex Luthor is the OPPOSITE he is very intellectual, he has worked hard to earn his money, and all the evil deeds he does do is because he sees superman as a threat not because he wants to miss with him.

One can have a valid argument against HOW something changes without necessarily being “stuck in the past” as well as questioning why something is being thrown out in the first place. It’s a shame to that for lack of a better term the evil CEO Lex (or Post Crisis Lex) has never really been portrayed in film when that idea of Lex is kind of perfect for it. Ok, first off, being angry that a character wasn’t adapted faithfully to the big screen isn’t the same as being “stuck in the past”. Believe it or not, the former critique is legit.
Also, old time comic book lex? We literally saw the same Lex he was talking about as recent as after the BvS movie.
They can still get a good performance out of him, but it is absolutely imperative that Zack Snyder wrangles him in. There were only moments in BvS where I thought his character could have worked , but it was abandoned to go in the awkward and twitchy direction. He’s a decent actor and if he’s directed to play against type, then I think his Luthor can be salvaged. He’s played menacing before in Social Network, however the difference being that David Fincher directed him and wanted a specific performance out of him. I could see what they wanted to achieve with Eisenberg, and his performance. Though I had issues with it, I didn’t find it so bad.
What I’m more looking forward to is the revelations of how long Luthor has been aware of the Forth World/New Gods.
Also the last line from him in BvS was “The bell has been rung, and cant be un-rung” followed by “ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding”…
What if the Ding is his way of replicating the “pinging”sound that the Mother Boxes make in the comics!
Agreed regarding portrayal of LL. It was different to be sure. But going forward must we see the exact same character that we’ve seen for years. There is a time when updating a character role is not that bad of an idea.
I concur bro! The same thing over and over does get a bit stale. It’s the reason why I liked Jared Leto’s Joker so much more than many others. It was a new take, yet something that was pretty much true to the character.
Heath Ledger did an exceptional job, so you cant redo that, there had to be something different!
Your right regarding Leto’s Joker. For all the complaints I thought he did a great job. And the movie itself was good! There was more than enough Joker in S Squad. That’s one of then things I really liked about it. In fact I though his Joker was more towards the comic versions and far more violent.
I’d like to see a true classic Joker on screen. Something that neither extreme of camp or horror movie. The closest we’ve come is Nicholson but it’s still kinda off the mark. Something along the lines of this guys amazing cosplay:
