Warner Bros. confirms ambitious slate as “Superman” success builds momentum
Fresh off this summer’s “Superman” triumph, DC’s future is crystallizing rapidly. Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav has confirmed that James Gunn is already deep into writing the next Super-family installment, moving “past preparing and well into writing” according to the director himself.
The confirmation comes via Zaslav’s shareholder letter, which outlined DC’s expanding 10-year vision. While not a direct “Superman 2,” the new project will feature Superman in a major role alongside other Super-family characters.
What’s Coming:
– Next Super-family film (in active development by Gunn)
– The “Batman II” (filming begins spring 2025, releases 2027)
– “Supergirl” (2026)
– “Clayface” (2026)
– New Wonder Woman project
The television side remains equally robust, with “The Penguin”, a new “Peacemaker” season, and “Lanterns” (2026) expanding the universe across multiple platforms.
Zaslav emphasized DC’s “precise and measured” approach to building an interconnected franchise spanning film, TV, games, and consumer products—a strategy that appears to be paying dividends following Superman’s strong reception.
With Gunn simultaneously writing, directing, and overseeing DC’s creative direction, the studio seems confident in its unified vision moving forward.
