Recent speculation has lead many Superman comic book fans concerned that DC was planning to kill of the Man of Steel… again.
With Clark/Kal-El having left earth in the capable care of his son Jon, also now known as Superman, there were rumors circulating that DC was setting the stage to kill off the older Superman.
The speculation seemed plausible to many, as recent events saw the older Superman ageing, weakened by a recent battle in space, and leaving earth behind to head off to Warworld. Jon’s fears for his father further exacerbated the issue, with the young Superman telling his father that during his time in the 31st Century he’d learned that Superman’s existence seemed to fade from history at this point in his life… and he feared his father’s time was coming to an end.
“Action Comics” writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson took to Twitter to allay the fears of Superman fans saying, “I’ve been hearing from a lot of Superman fans who are scared by all the recent speculation that Warworld is part of some shady, backdoor corporate plan to ‘replace’ Clark as Superman.”
“I don’t know how to easy your worries without spoiling what’s coming, and I can’t do that. But I love Clark Kent as much as you do. Keep reading, and I promise we won’t betray you. Superman is forever.”
Superman is here to stay.
The latest issue of “Action Comics” (#1036) is out now.
Why don’t I belive them?
