DC FanDome – “Battle of the Super Sons” CG-Animated Movie Coming

Super Sons

It was announced during DC FanDome 2021 that Warner Bros. Animation will be producing its first ever CG-animated film based on a DC property with “Battle of the Super Sons”.

Assumed to feature the sons of Superman and Batman, Jon Kent and Damian Wayne, the movie is scheduled to be released some time in 2022.

While there isn’t too much known about the film at this point in time, the sons of Superman and Batman have been a concept that goes back in comic book form to the 1960s when college-aged heroes known as Superman Jr. and Batman Jr. appeared in “World’s Finest Comics #154”, with the “Super-Sons” first featured in 1973’s “World’s Finest Comics #215”.

In more recent years, fans have followed the adventures of the “Super Sons” in a number of comic book series, including 2017’s “Super Sons” 16-issue miniseries (plus an Annual), which was followed by the 12-issue “Adventures of the Super Sons”.

I will always take more Super Sons content. I’m curious to see how the CG animation turns out. That’s quite a change.

I’m interested in this but the artifical aging up of Jon in the comics casts a pall for me on any new SuperSons material. It’s like I can’t look at it without just being reminded of how DC threw away Rebirth for “Bendis Is Coming!”.

Will this movie be about pre-Bendis Superboy?
