Kind of a tasteless idea for a cover. Do we really need to celebrate the gore factor of Superman’s birth parent’s dying in Krypton’s explosion?

It’s kind of interesting that Lara appears to be blown apart, while Jor-El looks like an x-ray. Probably an artistic choice, but maybe not… It could almost be interpreted that Jor-El is teleporting away leaving Lara to die. Or I’m overthinking it 🙂

Apparently you weren’t overthinking it. Unless Dan Jurgens is just setting us up. I don’t think that’s really Jor-El.

Yeah, it’s hard to absorb the image with it incessantly flashing back and forth like that. Looking at it again in what little way I can it almost looks like Jor-El is activating an energy attack that is murdering Lara. Like Jor-El is suddenly Dr. Phosphorous or something.
