DC Announces “Superman: Year One”

The DC Black Label will release SUPERMAN: YEAR ONE featuring creative work by Frank Miller (Batman: Year One/Batman: Dark Knight Returns) and John Romita Jr. (Daredevil: The Man Without Fear/The Amazing Spider-Man) this June, August, and October, along with a collection, which will be available this November. According to Black Label:

SUPERMAN: YEAR ONE is a coming-of-age story for the future Man of Steel, featuring a young alien-boy just trying to find his place in a new world. Faced with the need to hide his heritage and powers in order to survive, Clark will find his humanity through the grounding of the Kent family and the relationships that will define the man he will become. Told by two of the most revered voices in comics, SUPERMAN: YEAR ONE is more than a superhero story – it’s about the choices made by Clark Kent on his path to becoming a legend. It’s a testament to the importance of choosing to become a hero.

The first issue will be available in local comic stores on June 19th. Check out the covers and the cover to the collected edition below!

It would be nice if this is an animated movie instead, oh well.

As openminded that I try to be, I always end up feeling that John Romita Jr.’s artwork is hit or miss. Unfortunately, I just don’t like these covers.

Indeed. Besides 1, he’s done enough damage to him already. 2, a mind that would spew forth Holy Terror is not a good fit for Superman to say the very, very least.

That’s kind of like having been given the choice between being shot or stabbed.
