Coronavirus Concerns Sees DC Cancel Convention Plans for March

DC Comics has cancelled all its convention plans for the rest of March, including those scheduled for Emerald City Comic Con across March 12-15, due to concerns over the spread of the coronavirus.

“As the health and safety of our employees are always our primary concerns, DC staffers will not be attending conventions during the month of March,” a DC spokesperson said Tuesday in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “Future convention attendance will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, factoring in the latest information from a variety of organizations, including the CDC, WHO, U.S. State Department and local health agencies.”

Earlier this week DC announced that it had scrapped plans for the New York premiere of the “Superman: Red Son” animated movie due to the same health concerns.

DC will likely make an announcement regarding April’s Wonder Con in Anaheim (scheduled for April 10-12) towards the end of March.

I’ve got tickets to Emerald City Comic Con, and while (as of this morning) there is not anything on their website, I wouldn’t be surprised if they postpone or cancel the whole shindig.

*Edit: they do have a statement saying that they are working with the venue to maintain cleanliness to very high standards. And that, as of now, the show will go on as scheduled.

My trip to jamaica this week got cancelled too. So did the Arnold Classic expo. This is getting ridiculous. The regular flu kills more people than this Corona thing, the media is really blowing this out of proportion
