Supergirl and Ruthye finally catch up to Krem, but the encounter is catastrophic. Krem, who has obtained a Mordru Globe, uses it to transport his would be conquerors far off to the other side of existence, specifically, Barenton, a planet with a green sun that once nearly killed Superman in 45 minutes. Kara, who is fast losing her powers and dying, has 10 hours until the sun goes down, and unlike Superman, has no help coming. All she has is Ruthye. For the next 10 hours, Kara lies down on a rock, trying not to die, while Ruthye does all she can to protect her friend, even coming as close as to giving up on her mission of vengeance to keep the Kryptonian alive. Finally, the time passes, and the two disembark to track down Krem once more...

Once more having found Krem, Kara is chased by another Mordru Globe. Using a horse named Comet, Kara evades the globe by traveling to the end of the universe and a little bit farther. As all this happens, Ruthye recounts Kara's origin, as told by the hero who thinks she is going to perish. It is revealed that Argo City managed to live on a little longer after Krypton exploded, and thus, endured a lot of trauma, grief, and pain. Kara was only 14, yet had to see her planet die three times, explaining both her depression and anger, yet also, her endurance and strength, her belief that perhaps, she could still do some good. Having evaded the globe, Kara returns to where Krem is, and grabs an arrow he shoots at her, as a final showdown is about to commence...

Ruthye tries to kill Krem, first as he is tied to a tree, then in a fair fight, but she cannot bring herself to do it. Comet sacrifices himself to save Kara, who flies back to stop Ruthye from killing Krem by doing it herself. Ruthye begs Kara not to do this, telling her she has learned the difference between right and wrong after all, and beseeching that Kara doesn't lose her wonderful hope. Many years later, Kara returns to an old Ruthye, the two free Krem from his Phantom Zone sentence of multiple centuries. Krem, having learned the error of his ways and having made genuine attempts at amends, begs for forgiveness. Ruthye kills him, and Supergirl walks off.
