Clark Kent has returned to the country of Lubania after being tortured by its dictator Nikolai Koslov years ago in World's Finest Comics #192-193. Koslov is now an entrepreneur getting rich off those who work in his factories located abroad. Now, Clark must interview Koslov for the Daily Planet while confronting his own demons. Once Koslov leaves to go about his day. Clark changes into Superman, realizing he'll always care and want to help the oppressed be they prisoners of a totalitarian regime or forced to work in sweat shops./Superman receives thousands upon thousands of letters from people all over the world. Among those were requests from Melvin Northridge to help his mother Jolene stop using heroin. Superman has arrived too late to help Jolene, for he and Melvin must pay their respects to her at her funeral. While Melvin isn't angry, he is disappointed Superman took so long to respond. Clark knows he could have done more. Yet, in spite of that, Melvin is still filled with hope and has made a good life for himself thanks to the lessons his mother and Superman taught him about hope. He is not bitter and understands his mother made some bad choices. Jolene Northridge wanted to be buried in starlight, so Superman flies her urn to the moon. He places it on the surface promising Jolene to do more to help those like her./Superman's hero is applying for a job at the Daily Planet. Young Abdi El-Kahl lost his home in Mogadishu to flooding when he was a boy. A mere month into the Man of Steel's career, Abdi helped an unconscious Superman get from the ground floor to the top of a building while a monster rampaged through Metropolis. Abdi kept trying to awaken our hero. He eventually succeeded, but his hand was crushed in his effort to move the Last Son of Krypton. Now with a prosthetic hand, Abdi begins work at the Planet after returning to Mogadishu to take photographs for the Peace Corps. Clark welcomes Abdi while they shake hands, and both notice that the other has quite a grip on them./An imp from the Fifth Dimension who is not Mister Mxyzptlk has taken all of the world's color. However, he regrets his actions and asks Superman to replace them. Nobody remembers green, red, blue or other hues, and the Man of Steel ponders putting them back. Batman believes it would be irresponsible of Superman to do such a thing. Lois eventually convinces him to return every shade gradually. He begins with red and blue as he flies around the world, allowing the gray to mix into the vibrancy of life./Clark Kent's first day of kindergarten goes well thanks to advice and jokes from his parents. Yet, when Samantha sits by herself at lunch, he wonders if he should sit with her. Jonathon and Martha tell him he should do what's right and not worry about losing his new friends. If they really liked him, they wouldn't care if he sat with Samantha. The next day, Clark has lunch with Samantha. They talk about horses and play with toy versions of them. Other children invite Samantha to play tag. Later in the week, Samantha and Clark have a sleepover and learn more jokes for the Kents.

Martha Kent is at a diner in Smallville waiting for Clark to arrive. Some rather gossipy ladies believe that adopting a child is not like giving birth to one. She convinces them otherwise as we see Superman go through his routine of saving those in need. She concludes that Clark is the Kents' own son no matter what./Val-Zod, the Superman of Earth-2, and his anthropomorphic canine Krypto must save a starship of beings from Prometheus. They prevent the vessel's crash, landing it on Earth. However, Val-Zod's fight with Prometheus continues in the latter's Ghost Zone with the victor unknown at this time./Lex Luthor must learn the value of patience while pondering what to do with some newly found Red Kryptonite. He eventually decides to wait until the moment is right for him to use it to defeat Superman. The crimson meteorite is placed in storage until that time comes./Ava brings a piece of space metal from a robot that Superman fought to school. She helped bring people to safety and made sure Clark wasn't hurt. Her aid allowed the Man of Steel to give a part of the robot as a memento, However, nobody in her class believes her. When bullies steal her Superman drawings and cape, the real Last Son of Krypton arrives to make things right. He thanks Ava for her help. Her classmates apologize to her, and Supes starts a basketball game with the kids./A janitor is caught in the middle of a battle between the Cyborg Superman and Superman. The half robotic Hank Henshaw has a mechanical dog that feeds on energy. Cyborg believes what makes Superman a man is what makes him weak, but the fact of the matter is it actually is what makes him Superman. The janitor understands this as Henshaw's dog searches for sustenance from Henshaw himself.

Clark has a Daily Planet deadline to meet while fighting crime as Superman. Diana knows Superman's time doesn't always belong to him, but Bruce knows Clark would not shirk his responsibilities to his job, the people of the world and his friends. As they discuss this Clark arrives in the nick of time./As the Justice League battles Kilg%re, Superman attempts to convince the artificial intelligence that he should ask people nicely to be friends instead of kidnapping them./Doctor Charles Miles, after being saved by Superman numerous times over the years, got to return the favor when he removed a piece of Green Kryptonite from the Man of Steel's chest. As he recounts the events to Cat Grant on WGBS, a villain is about to fire a Red Kryptonite bullet. Miles stabs the man's hand with his lucky scalpel, rescuing Superman a second time./A children's home field trip to Superman's Fortress awakens subconscious memories of Krypton's destruction and his leaving the planet as an infant. He uses Legion flight rings to take the kids on a trip to the skies. Unbeknownst to the Man of Tomorrow, Toyman wants to unlock the secrets of Superman's vault. However, the truth is discovered when a pair of boys are lost in the Fortress. Two lethal action figures, one a child's teddy bear, attack. He defeats the Toyman's deadly playthings and finds the girl a cherished stuffed animal from his childhood to forge new memories to override those that haunt him./Upon learning a meteor is a sentient being, Superman does everything he can to help it while saving Earth from being destroyed. He cools its burns with asteroid belt ice and learns the alien is a baby looking for his family. A LexCorp satellite is attached to the extraterrestrial infant in hopes he can find his parents.

They find it broken on a planet with Bizarro, who is in need of rescuing. Superman saves him and perhaps even gives him hope for the future./Jonathan Kent's lesson to young Clark in Smallville about giving a little being a lot when one doesn't have a lot resonates in the present as Superman does his best to save the people of Metropolis./Mister Myxyzptlk tortures Bizarro during his birthday celebration only to find Superman gave his duplicate the ultimate gift of friendship./An online challenge leaves Superman's hands full between battles with supervillains. He seems to convince the young man who started it to think about his life and if he wants to make a difference in the world.

A lonely young Clark Kent gets a surprise when a new visitor comes into his life. A dog with powers like those Clark has helped ease the boy's solitude. We learn Jor-El had used him to test space flights, and baby Kal-El named him Krypto./Clark Kent helps college student Lisa Tran that's okay to ask for help with studying and life when he helps a first-time thief see that robbing a convenience store is not the answer to his troubles./During an interview, photojournalist Jimmy Olsen is asked about what his favorite shot of Superman might be. He's hard pressed to pick one when readers get a look at a picture of Jimmy and Supes accidentally taken when Jimmy removed the lens cap./Though he laments his people's political hubris, Jor-El sums up what his son's life will be like on Earth. This gives him hope for Krypton's future in spite of the planet's destruction./Jonathan Kent goes to Smallville's local pastor for advice. He feels he may not be the best father for his newly adopted son. Yet, the story of God telling the world he is proud of Jesus during his baptism gives him hope, for everyday Jonathan tells Clark he loves him, he's special and he's proud of him. Clark does the same thing with the people of Earth.

Through happy times and sad ones, she has always been there to provide the Special, making everyone feel like they are family./The lessons learned on the Kent farm help Clark save a heart attack victim from certain death./On the day Superman reveals that he is Clark Kent, a teenager comes home from school inspired to tell his family that he is gay. This makes the world feel more honest for him.
