    Stuart Immonen and Mark Millar, Joe Phillips, Rich Faber
    Everyone is asking "Who is Mrs Superman?" and Obesession wants to know the same thing. After a quick tussle, Superman and Obesession tackle a gang of youths who have used the drug DMN. Obsession dies.

    Mark Schultz, Doug Mahnke, Tom Nguyen
    Coming home to his apartment, Clark is confronted by Krypton! The Eradicator is once again trying to recreate Krypton, and challenges Kal-el to a battle of minds. Lois comes home and helps her husband.

    Wonder Woman and Superman become trapped in the realm of the Olympus gods fighting an ancient evil for a thousand years. Back on earth Lois fights off rising jealousy towards Wonder Woman.

    Superman tells Jimmy he is indeed married. Lois thinks about how her life has turned out, while in space Superman and Mongul do battle with Imperiex who plans to demolish our galaxy.

    Lex invites Lois and Clark to the opera, and sets things up so that both Clark and Superman are occupied elsewhere while he tries to impress Lois by thwarting an attempt on his life which he himself has set up.

    The Eradicator is back, trying to fight off the effects of the original Kryptonian programming that is trying to re-assert itself. Superman and Steel confront the Eradicator at Stryker's Island.

    Clark goes shopping on Christmas Eve but comes across the Demon Etrigan who gives everyone a chance to face their own personal inner demon, and gets some accidental help from Encantadora.

    Joe Kelly; Butch Guice with Kevin Conrad, Mark Propst and Richard Bonk
    New Year's Eve, the Kents decide on being in Metropolis for a change. Lex holds a huge party, but doesn't plan on a gate crasher in Brainiac, whose upgrade causes havoc across the world... especially in Metropolis.

    Jeph Loeb, Ed McGuinness, Cam Smith
    Metropolis is changing dramatically thanks to Brainiac 13. An upgraded Metallo attacks Superman, but Superman, with help from the Metal Men, defeats him. Brainiac absorbs Superman!!

    Stuart Immonen and Mark Millar, Stuart Immonen, Jose Marzan Jr
    Lex invites Lois and Superman is again turned into Superman Blue! He fights Brainiac 13 all over Metropolis, while Lex and Brainiac 2.5 together attempt to save the real Superman who is the only one who can stop Brainiac 13.

    The arrival of the Eradicator temporarily helps Superman defeat Brainiac 13. Together they go to the ruins of the Fortress of Solitude to stop the B13 virus and the Eradicator Program from joining.

    Brainiac 2.5 and Lex attack Brainiac 13 with the Kryptonian Battlesuit. Superman gets help from Kelex to use the Kryptonian technology to defeat Brainiac 13. Lex sacrifices Lena to Brainiac 13 to rule over new Metropolis.

    Clark goes to Smallville, to find Superboy has decided to pay the Kents a visit. The two of them learn a newfound respect for each other. When Clark returns to Metropolis, Lois gives him the cold shoulder.

    Clark visits Smallville to spend time alone with his parents, who get the feeling that things aren't right between him and Lois. Clark runs into some political confrontations and investigates as Superman.

    Mark Schultz, Pablo Raimondi and Doug Mahnke, Sean Parsons
    Still in Smallville, Clark rescues a submerged car only to discover it is Lana and Pete Ross. He saves Pete from an Underwater Spirit and has a talk with Lana. When he goes back to Metropolis he helps Steel deal with some hi-tech saboteurs and the creation of a pocket universe.

    Superman saves tenants from a burning apartment block in Smallville, and touchingly helps out an elderly lady. Clark tries to talk to Lois, but she says she needs to be away from him. Is Superman ill?

    Perry talks to Clark about marriage problems. These problems are just made worse when an ailing Superman battling the Parasite gets some help and attention from Wonder Woman and Lana... with an untimely entrance by Lois.

    Superman makes arrangements for he and Lois to spend time alone together on an unspoilt planet. Even when a flame creature reveals the depth of Clark's love for her, Lois still wants to be left alone.

    As Steel and Superman set about re-creating the Fortress of Solitude within a tesseract, a group of techno-villains called the CyberMoths attempt to gain control of it and free their benefactor... the Cyborg!

    A sick Superman comes to Steel for help. A burst of solar energy gives Superman enough strength to break into Lexcorp to search for Lois, but Lex's security stops him. Batman steps in to help find Lois.

    With their ship destroyed, Supergirl treks through to Superman's brain and unleashes an electrical surge, while Superboy and Steel confront the kryptonite cancer... but Steel is an imposter!

    John Henry Irons shrinks and enters Superman's body to help Superboy & Supergirl against the Steel-imposter. Lois & Encantadora briefly escape Deathstroke and get to STAR Labs with some news, but he follows close behind them.

    Luthor announces he's running for President! Superman goes toe to toe with The Adversary. The Thorn warns a crime boss called Giovanni to stay out of Metropolis... but is later set upon by the Prankster.

    A young religious woman has a vision of Superman before sprouting wings of fire. Superman escapes Arkham again and receives some help from Lois. Jimmy turns into a giant Turtle-boy and eats Superman!!!

    Captured again, Superman is shackled, tested and thrown into another prison where he stumbles across John Henry Irons. Together they escape before running into a little imp who gives them some hints.

    Superboy is working as SuperBurger Boy and hating the monotony of it all. Superman and Steel battle Ignition before Mxy finally restores Superman's memory and reveals the Joker is behind this whole mess.

    Mxy reveals that he stupidly gave the Joker his powers, which is why the world is the way it is. Superman tries to convince the real JLA, Supergirl and Superboy that they're really heroes. Joker shoots Lex!

    Superman, Superboy and Supergirl attack Joker's stronghold from the water, while Lois and Steel attack head on. Supergirl and Superboy are seemingly killed by Ignition. Superman searches for Batman... finding him dead.

  • [40] The Adventures of Superman #583 (October)
    J.M. DeMatteis, Mike Miller, Armando Durruthy
    Batman returns to life and together with Superman, he and Supergirl and Superboy (who are also brought back from hell) attempt to fight Joker by teleporting into his soul. Lois turns traitor. Joker turns the heroes into Super Pets!!!

    With Lois as his Queen, Joker tries to break Superman's will by putting him through a life where he's responsible for the death of everyone he cares for... this only serves to strengthen Superman's resolve.

    The battle to defeat Emperor Joker rages on, back and forth. With Joker on the verge of destroying the whole universe, Superman (with Mxy's help) works out that Batman is the key to defeating the Joker.

    Luthor announces Pete Ross as his running mate in his Presidential campaign, much to Clark's dismay. Lori Lemaris comes looking for Clark. Superman clashes with Aquaman over Lex Luthor.

    Devouris The Conqueror comes to earth to kill Superman, but turns out to be simply a disruption to Ron Troupe's Bachelor Party. Luthor, on his Presidential campaign, meets with Collin Thornton AKA Lord Satanus.

    Mark Schultz, Carlo Barberi, Juan Vlasco
    Superman goes missing while inspecting Metropolis' dams, so Lois goes to John Henry Irons for help. Using his Deep Sea Rig, John discovers Kosnor has Superman in a trance and is destroying the dams.

    Superman runs into Nightwing who is in Metropolis investigating Intergang's movements in Bludhaven. Together they ferret out a man named Bendelwhite and thwart Intergang's plans.

    Jeph Loeb, Ed McGuinness & Paul Pelletier, Cam Smith
    Aquaman's legions set a tidal wave through Metropolis. Together with Young Justice, Superman stops the water and also a huge sea creature, before confronting Aquaman. Lex is wounded by a gun shot.

    Lois has an out of body experience thanks to Kryptonian mind techniques. Prankster somehow gathers together the separate identities of Dr. Faulkner, Rampage, Rose Forrest, Thorn, a kid and Adversary for Lord Satanus.

    Superman decides to go into the Phantom Zone to try and rescue Luna (the CyberMoth). Although John Henry and the Kandorians do their best to control the situation, it's Lois who holds the key.

    Lois is on safari searching for the Assassins who tried to kill Superman. While Superman tracks down both Encantadora and Talia who seems to be intertwined in Ra's Al Ghul's devious plans.
