Writer: Joshua Williamson
Penciller: Nick Derington

We open with General Zod standing in the ruins of the arctic Fortress of Solitude, as he thinks back to the city of Kandor of old, before it was shrunk and bottled by Brainiac. Zod deliberates on Superman's in-action to helping the citizens of Kandor, and then letting it fall into the hands of Rogol Zar. He flies off with the broken remnants of Kandor clutched in his hands. We later catch up with Superman and Batman as they visit the gravesite of Clay Ramsay/Kryptonite Man on Stryker's Island. While there, they're attacked by an armoured ninja/assassin. Batman recognises the fighting style, and deduces that it's none-other than Ras Al Ghul. Ras explains that he came looking for the corpse of Kryptonite Man, so that he could harness what Kryptonite he could from him. When asked why he needed Kryptonite so bad, he explains that he was paid a visit by General Zod, who demanded access to his Lazarus Pit, in order to resurrect the dead citizens of Kandor. They travel to The Lost Temple of Quetzalcoatl, which houses one of Ras' Lazarus Pits. Ras explains that it would be an easy target for Zod, as he is a trained General, and would seek out the impossible, when it comes to secret locations that house valuable/important assets to complete his mission. When they all enter the temple, they discover that Ras' acolytes in charge of guarding the Pit have all been taken out, though not killed. They find Zod by the Pit, as he explains that he has already done what they feared, and managed to resurrect the Kandorians. He laughs as they arise from the Pit, and swarm toward them.

"The Kandor Compromise: Part Two"
Writer: Joshua Williamson
Penciller: Nick Derington
Inker: Nick Derington
We open with a flashback of a young General Zod on Krypton many years before its destruction. Zod is taught an important lesson by his own father, of the city of Kandor and what it means to his family. We cut to the present, as a horde of resurrected Kandorians attack Zod, Superman, Ras Al Ghul and Batman. Superman and Zod take the brunt of it all, as the Kandorians try to escape the hidden temple, for open skies. Ras in a desperate last attempt throws a Red Sun emitting flash grenade, causing the Kandorians to return to the bottled city. Superman questions Zod on the madness of his plan of resurrecting his people in such a way, only for Zod to pose a question back to him, that he and Batman have dead loved ones, if they had that chance to bring them back, wouldn't they take it? This is all cut short, as Ras swipes through the bottle city with his Kryptonite blade. Zod attacks Ras in all his rage, flying him through the wall of the temple, and Superman tells Batman that he needs to get the bottle city remains to the Fortress in order to save the lives of those in the broken bottle. Batman follows Zod and Ras, and discovers that Zod is about to kill Ras, only to be thwarted by his Kryptonite blade. Zod tosses Ras aside and flies off. Ras also makes an escape, before Batman manages to catch up with him. Later we catch up with Batman in the Fortress of Solitude, he asks Superman what the status of the Kandorians is. Superman tells him that the city he brought back was some sort of replica, and that half the denizens of Kandor are missing. The ones he managed to save are in a form of stasis, not dead, but not alive either. We later see that Zod had a cunning plan, and that he saved the other half, as well as the real bottled city, as he flies home. We end with Zod on his new home of Jekuul, where he teaches his own son about the city of Kandor, and what it means to the House of Zod.

"Atomic" - Part 1
Writer: Joshua Williamson
Penciller: Clayton Henry
Inker: Clayton Henry
We open with two GCPD officers investigating a body washed up on Gotham Harbor. We then cut to the Batmobile as it ferociously makes its way to the heart of the city, where an out of control Atomic Skull pleads for help. He seems particularly happy to see Batman when he arrives, however he annihilates the pursuing armed officers, as an attempt to save Batman from them. Batman then attacks the AS briefly before he disappears. More armed officers arrive and act as if they are possessed, as they prepare to take down the AS. Batman stops them, as he has figured out that they are not real police, and given that AS had turned over a new leaf, and was aiding law enforcement as of late in Metropolis, he gave him the benefit of the doubt. AS tells Batman to flee, that he came to warn him regarding "his" plans to come after Batman and use him to hurt Superman. Before Batman can get an answer to who "he" is, the AS detonates, taking a large chunk of the city block with him. Across the other side of the world, in the city of Paris, Superman flies down to meet his wife Lois for dinner, with surrounding paparazzi snapping photos of them. Superman manages to hear the explosion in Gotham, and Lois tells him to "go", as he flies off. Once there, he manages to help some of the injured and clear some debris. One of the EMT tells Superman that Batman was there, and no one knows what happened to him, Superman using his x-ray vision manages to spot him under some thick layers of rubble. After digging him out, Batman fills him in on the situation. Superman tells Batman they need to uncover who AS was running from, and Batman states they need to start with the body. We close with the two GCPD officers who were looking into the washed up body, as they look into a cave nearby, and discover that the body must have come from there. They are suddenly attacked by the being responsible for the whole mess, as he kills one of them and cages the other. The being in question is non-other than the Ultra-Humanite, and he explains that losing the AS was unfortunate to his plans, but now Batman and Superman must team up to find him, and his Atomic Army.

"Atomic" - Conclusion
Writer: Joshua Williamson
Penciller: Clayton Henry
Inker: Clayton Henry
We open with two guys attempting to loot the bomb site of Gothams Financial District. Batman in his new atomic form stops them, and leaves them for the authorities, all the while being controlled by the Ultra-Humanite. Superman comes upon them in the UH's hideout, and demands UH to change Batman back. UH attacks Superman, using Batman, forcing Superman to kill him, otherwise he'd have detonated Batman like he did with the Atomic Skull, destroying another part of the city. Superman uses his heat vision, and blasts Batman in the chest, and the UH gloats that he made Superman kill his friend and crime fighting partner. Turns out that Superman took out the control chip that UH had implanted in Batman, that would make him detonate, and Batman strikes from behind and takes down the UH. Later our heroes discover that the UH was remotely controlling his body, as he did with the drones, and that he had stored his brain close by. Superman takes the brain to Star Labs, returns all the reanimated bodies of the dead to their families, and gives the Atomic Skull a hero's funeral. He then stops in at the Batcave, where Batman operates on his self, to remove the detonator. The two talk, and agree that they must work more closely together, and not just on crime cases. Batman reveals that someone had initially abducted the Atomic Skull, and they need to find out who it was. We close with the Atomic Skull, remerging from his grave, saying "I need a drink".

"Planet Brainiac" - Part One
Writer: Joshua Williamson
Penciller: Max Raynor
Inker: Max Raynor
We open with Steel and Batwoman assessing the damage to the Batcave, as they try to determine what transpired, and why there is so much destruction. Steel and Batwoman are granted access to the Bat-Computer, and they are caught up to speed on the events that transpired and left the cave in the manner that it's in. Flashback to Superman and Batman taking down a reanimated Chemo fuelled by the power of a volcano, courtesy of the Brimstone Brotherhood, later Batman reveals that the algorithm that he created to keep tabs on their adversaries managed to work perfectly, but somehow it was corrupted and left a virus in the system, when he plugged in the Chemo transponder into it, and coupled with the distress signal from Kandor a few issues ago, triggered an attack from a latent Brainiac programme. The Batcave itself attacked our heroes, through any means of technology available. Steel and Batwoman receive Batman's warning, but his last instructions at the end are not heard due to the choppy signal. They heard Batman tell them that they are being held on Brainiac's base on the dark side of the moon. Both Steel and Batwoman make their way to a shuttle to take them there. On the moon, Batman is recaptured by Brainiac's drones, and as he is taken back to where they are holding Superman in the holding cells, he tells Superman that he hopes they follow his instructions and don't come to the moon.
