Superman is fighting alongside the Justice League as an army of alien spacecraft soar towards Earth. J'onn and John Stewart remind him he has a bigger emergency a to deal with. Superman soars to the Fortress and is greeted by Batman. He assures Clark that the League will protect the planet while he deals with this important matter. As Clark enters he is greeted by Wonder Woman and Lois; a heavily pregnant, in labour, Lois. Jonathan Kent arrives happy and healthy and for a brief time Superman and Lois are the happiest of parents. Batman, meanwhile, quietly runs tests on the infant and makes a startling, wholly illogical discovery. That was years ago. Today Jonathan Kent is Superman now, continuing his father's legacy. In California, a distressed metahuman who can generate fire, is accidentally setting a huge wildfire while trying to fend off the attacking military. Jon steps in and comforts the young man and as he calms down the fires begin to dwindle. The military, who had exacerbated the situation, demands the metahuman be turned over to them. The young Superman does so uneasily but he still needs reassurance and he seeks out his oldest friend. True to form Damian Wayne is no help at all allaying Jon's fears. After aiding Damian on a secret mission, Jon faces a harsh truth from his friend. As much as he is the son of the original Superman, he is also the son of Lois Lane. Jon realises he cannot just continue his father's legacy, he has to forge a new path… A journey for Truth, Justice and a better world.

"The Truth" - Part 1
Writer: Tom Taylor
Artist: John Timms
Since the recommendation from Damian, Jon has been an avid viewer of the videocast "The Truth" where a masked stranger fights for truth and justice by revealing dangerous criminal activity. But Lois is unimpressed with Jon lazing around the house instead of getting ready for his first day at college. Jon has decided that he will try out a secret identity and thus Finn Connors is born. But it is not long before the day is disrupted by a school shooting. This act of terrorism forces Jon into action, though not before a fellow student rumbles the connection. Later, post excitement, Jon sits on the moon's surface joined by his father. Clark offers wisdom and support before offering his son an early birthday gift: a key to the second Fortress and a costume made for his son by Martha Kent herself. Clark is cryptic at this point, hinting that he might not be a superhero much longer. Back at home, Jon tunes into "The Truth" and is shocked to hear of asylum seekers adrift at sea with no country willing to take them in. Jon wastes no time rescuing the boat and bringing it to Metropolis promising to watch over them as they seek refuge. As Jon flies to a nearby building and watches the city he is stunned when "The Truth's" host appears, he reveals himself to be Jay Nakamura, the student that was present at the shooting. Jay promises to help Jon fit in so he doesn't have to be Superman 24 hours a day. Elsewhere the President of Gamorra, takes the actions of Superman rescuing the asylum seekers as an act of war... Troubles for Jon are only just beginning...

Jon and his father Clark join forces when a residential building collapses in Coast City. While Clark tries to slow its fall so civilians below can evacuate, Jon rescues everyone from inside. Scanning the area they see a youth named Fault Line, similar to the teenager with fire powers that Jon encountered before, this young woman also cannot control her powers and has amnesia too. It doesn't take them long to connect the two events and realize something is brewing. Clark advises Jon that they should take her to STAR Labs until she can calm down, control her powers and possibly remember her past. Jon gets a call on his cellphone and Clark senses Jon's lack of concentration. Jon's call is from Jay, the secret host of The Truth vlog. The police are trying to arrest the refugees from Gamorra and that is something Superman cannot allow. In full view of the world press Superman stands with the refugees and offers to be arrested with them and share their fate. Jon takes the opportunity to explain that his father, Clark, was a refugee who was offered sanctuary by an American family and later the country. All he wants for the refugees is sanctuary and he questions President Bendix's claim that they are welcome home to a safe haven, especially as they risked their lives on a literal sinking ship. It may have been just 45 minutes in jail but thanks to Cat Grant's live broadcast the Gamorran government have backed down and Clark has arrived to take his son home. Clark meets the friend Jon left STAR Labs for and is surprised that Jay had also arrived to help bail Jon out of jail. Sensing their bond, Clark suggests that Jay join the Kents for a family dinner in Smallville. Jay is lost for words meeting Lois Lane, his personal idol, and he is overcome with shyness. Jon takes his friend aside and comments that people usually have that reaction to Clark not Lois. As a very nervous Jay meets his friend's mother and grandparents Clark has a heart to heart with his son. Jon is nervous as the end of Clark's career is close though the details are fuzzy. Clark points out that the future is not set and makes a deal with his son. After dinner he and Lois return to Metropolis. Meanwhile unknown to the Kents, President Bendix has been tracking Jon and discovered the cloaked location of the Kent Farm. The President has also arranged for Fault Line to be kidnapped from STAR Labs. While Jon and Jay spend some quiet time with Ma and Pa, Bendix orders Fault Line's release from a plane as a gravity bomb. Who survives?

Clark has left earth for a space bound peace-keeping mission. Martha and Jonathan Kent are doing their best to keep the calm and keep the conversation flowing with the two teenage boys. Time slows to a crawl as the Kent Farm explodes but Jon reacts at super speed. He makes a shocking discovery about Jay but has no time to mull it over as he speeds out of the explosion with his grandparents. The Justice League arrive and find the young terrified Fault Line. Jon leaps in to protect her and calms everyone down for the young girl to explain that she was forced to be a gravity bomb after being kidnapped. The Flash commends Jon's conflict resolution and also reviews his secret identity. He explains that he is in the same position, as he has taken over as The Flash from Barry and that if Jon needs a friend he'll always be there. Jay arrives and Jon confronts him about having super powers, but worse still is the loss of the Kent Farm, his 'fortress'. Jon comes to the same realization Clark did many years ago about loved ones becoming targets. Jay distracts Jon with another secret a network of Post-Humans. Returning to Metropolis, Jon and Jay meet Aerie and Wink, two post-humans researching the super powered teens popping up in America. They conclude the attack on the Kents was by Bendix in retaliation to Jon's social justice stance. Jon is horrified by the data they present of the experimentation on children and takes it to his mother. Lois is cautious, pointing out that this isn't a supervillian but a president, with very good PR. Jon heads to Gamorra to speak face to face with president Bendix. Bendix stands coldly and issues an instruction over a transmitter that leads to a terrifying scream. Jon races to find a prison cell holding the teenager from the forest that was setting things on fire. The cell along with the boy's energy begins to overload Jon but as he escapes skyward Jon's powers begin overloading, whatever Bendix has done, could mean disaster if Superman's powers grow out of control like the others!
