At the safe house Batman tells Jon what he knows of Jay's past and advises him not to trust him. Jon decides to consult Nightwing before making any decisions and while he does Jonathan Kent Snr. takes Batman aside and delivers some home truths and a revelation about Bruce Wayne's past that even he was unaware of.

Amid some superheroics Dick offers Superman a shoulder and Jon comes to a decision that leads him back to his boyfriend. Jay opens up about how he left Gamorra and the vigilante group, The Revolutionaries.

The one to one opens their eyes as they realize that Bendix and Luthor have been using a device to take control of the super powered teenagers and when they outlive their usefulness they detonate, killing the host.

Jon realizes even the Gamorra Corps and the false accusations of murder were a result of the devices, and races to the Hall of Justice to rescue one of the refugees he left there realixing Inferno was both a bomb and reluctant sleeper agent.

The Flash and the Atom are there to meet Jon and they attempt to remove the device to save Inferno. Bendix takes control and again tries to manipulate Jon. Superman formulates a plan and he is able to outsmart the villain using his vision powers to perform microsurgery.

Realizing their plans are on the verge of failure Bendix and Luthor decide to escalate The Rising and kill Jon Kent as a bonus.

To Be Continued...

5Story - 5: Jonathan Kent Snr facing off against Batman is GOLD. I loved Bruce being dragged across the coals over Selina Kyle and Talia Al Ghul after he judged Jay Nakamura. The revelation about Alfred was also brilliant and further connected Superman and Batman.

The realizations about The Rising are a little painful as they were pretty obvious from early on, but it is nice that the plot is moving along - just a shame Superman and the Justice League hadn't figured it out much earlier.

Still this issue brought a lot of the plot points together and in such a nice way that it flowed particularly well.

4Art - 4: Cian Tormey does a great job this issue blending the action with the emotion. I like the art style as it looks like each panel is an animation cel. There is also a nice balance with the drama and action.

4Cover Art - 4: This duo has been crafting some absolutely stunning covers and while this image is arresting it is the weakest of their series. I think the Gamorra Corps is the weakest part of the piece and they feel a little rushed.

4Variant Cover Art - 4: An epic visual, with Jon easily carrying the Daily Planet globe. It is a really fun image with a palette that embodies all the positives of the Man of Steel.

4Variant Cover Art - 4: Not much has been made of Lex Luthor being the real brains behind The Rising so it is nice to see a cover allow him to take centre stage. Monitoring the new Superman is exactly what Luthor would be doing and this cover highlights his obsession in an amazing way.

3Variant Cover Art - 3: Sentiment and significance means that this cover means more to millions of people than can be put into words. The title character himself means so much to so many. I am sad to say that I really don't like it or the content, but the art style is nice.
