DC Comics fans know well the story about the never-made “Justice League: Mortal” film. With George Miller as director, “Justice League: Mortal” was set to star D.J. Cotrona as Superman, Armie Hammer as Batman, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, Adam Brody as The Flash, rapper/actor Common as Green Lantern, Hugh Keays-Byrne as Martian Manhunter, Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman, Jay Baruchel as Maxwell Lord, and Teresa Palmer as Talia al Ghul. The Writer’s strike in 2007 as well as a change in tax break advantages in Australia resulted in the project being cancelled.
DCFilmsHub.com claims to have received a photo of D.J. Cotrona in the “Justice League: Mortal” Superman costume from a source close to the project.
While fans weren’t necessarily sold on the casting choice of D.J. Cotrona, the actor told ComingSoon.net that he was bitterly disappointed the film was dropped after so much work had already gone into it.
“That was a big bummer. I was really, really excited to work with George Miller and the script was really, really good. The stuff that WETA was doing was amazing. It’s just a shame that we didn’t get to finish that because it was going to be really, really cool.”
Kinda bad, but I’d still take it over anything from Superman Lives.
