In the latest Superman Homepage Member Poll we asked you the following question:
If Henry Cavill is indeed no longer being considered to play Superman in any future movie, which of the following actors would you like to see cast as the Man of Steel?
Cavill still seems to be the popular choice, however, fans would rather see an unknown actor (who has the look and charisma to play the role) rather than an already established and therefore well known face. Interesting to see, on the back of all the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” news I’m sure, that Brandon Routh is also a popular choice. I have my doubts about some of the lesser name actors listed as possible choices.
Here’s the complete voting breakdown:

Even though it was a fair vote, and I’m not saying it wasn’t because it was, I can’t help but wonder if the unknown would have still won without Cavill’s name mentioned in the ballot. I say this because there were two options for an unknown option. The only difference between the two were one mentioned Cavill and the other Reeve. And the one with Cavill attached to the unknown had votes that were a lot higher than the Reeve with unknown voting option. So I have to ask, would the unknown still would have won without Cavill’s name attached… Read more »
I think that entry was meant to be saying that they would ideally prefer Cavill to stay on and it hasn’t been entirely confirmed he’s been cut but everything seems to point that way. BUT if it is confirmed he won’t be THEN their preference is an unknown. So Cavill is their first and foremost choice. My thinking is that whatever they do is going to likely require a change in direction and I don’t know if an actor can jump from one version of the part to the other. Sort of like how the casting people for Lois and… Read more »
I totally understand on what you said about writing in an unknown MattComics. And it’s perfectly fine that you did write in your answer. There’s nothing wrong about it. I just wonder why the first person to write in the unknown, didn’t put it as just simply an unknown in the first place. But if they wanted Cavill in the ballot, then why not write in his name? Like I said before, it was a fair vote. I was trying to figure out if Cavill’s name helped with the unknown. If it had, I’m not complaining. I just wanted understand it… Read more »
I meant to say that there was nothing wrong with your write in vote MattComics. I just wanted to be sure that you could understand what I had previously said. You are not at fault for anything and you have nothing to apologize for MattComics.
Nah I get you. All the same though, think I’ll be more careful next time. Thanks, Spidey. (I still call you that because “Supey” doesn’t really work. lol.)
You’re welcome MattComics. You’ve always treated me with respect. Thank you. You have my respect.
Supey does sound like a soup brand.
Ha ha ha!
And I still dig the nickname Spidey. It’s cool.
You will always be spidey to us haha
Awesome sundevil82!
Spider-Man is a cool superhero to be nicknamed after.
I’ve noticed that Hollywood tends to do the opposite of what I want (I’m not out of touch, they are!!) So I’ll just say this and you can judge the (likely) results for yourself:
BE GONE, LIFELESS HUNK OF FLESH THAT IS HENRY CAVILL!!!
I admit that I’m not a Cavill Superman fan. And I am a bit disappointed about these poll results. Others may disagree with my point of view. I’m fine with that. I have nothing against people that do like his take. Everyone has their own preference for who they want in the role. But I’m hoping that we move on from his version of Superman.I know it’s probably highly unlikely, but I’m hoping that maybe WB will bring back Routh as Superman for some Superman films. His recent Superman photos only proves he can still be Superman. I mean why… Read more »
Now I’m not saying that they have to repeat the Superman Reeve formula again for Routh. If they want to have a different take on Superman that’s fine. But I say let Brandon show us his version of Superman. I’m sure he can give the audience something new for a different take on Superman. Again it probably won’t happen, but I hope WB at least considers the possibility of Routh’s return to the Superman role to the big screen. And if not for the movies, then maybe as a tv Superman for CW, or SyFi, or HBO. I’d even settle… Read more »
There are only three picks that I would choose for Superman for an upcoming movie. 1. Brandon Routh 2. Tyler Hoechlin 3. An unknown actor I would put Tom Welling in there, but I don’t know if he would say yes to the part. If he was offered the role of superman for a film and said yes, then I would be thrilled. I would love to see his version of Superman on the big screen. But as I said before, I’m not sure if he would say yes. Dean Cain’s Superman is another Superman that I would love to… Read more »
Well…..If you look at the entertainment industry as a whole they’re still swimming in the same rut. And that’s the continuation as everything female. From TV shows to main stream movies it’s all about the battle axe women. They’re reluctant to put out anything “MAN” and continue on with the domineering female roles. They’ve even gone so far as to make sure that when a new male character is introduced he appears to be smaller in stature and the woman is looking down on him. NOW…the women are portrayed as always taller and more authoritative. It’s a total joke but… Read more »
Sadly, I think you’re right on that we won’t be getting any Superman tv series or movies in the near future.
Still, I can hope. And who knows? Maybe someday if we’re lucky they will surprise us with a Superman series or movie. I try to be optimistic.
