Cameron Cuffe Talks About “Krypton” with BUILD Series NYC

“Krypton” star Cameron Cuffe, who plays Superman’s grandfather in the new series, sat down for a live interview with BUILD Series NYC recently to talk about what kind of pressure he felt while filming the show, his first memories of being a Superman fan, and his lengthy audition process for the role of Seg-El.

What if Superman never existed? Set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, Krypton follows Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the legendary Man of Steel’s grandfather, who is faced with a life and death conflict – save his home planet or let it be destroyed in order to restore the fate of his future grandson. With Krypton’s leadership in disarray and the House of El ostracized, Seg finds himself in a difficult position. He must redeem his family’s honor and protect the ones he loves while being challenged by familiar DC characters Brainiac (Blake Ritson) and Earthly time-traveler Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos).

The TV series is inspired by classic comic book stories including “All-Star Superman,” “Superman: The Animated Series,” and “Superman: Secret Origins”.

“Krypton” is produced by Warner Horizon Television. The pilot is written by David Goyer (Man of Steel) with Ian Goldberg (Once Upon A Time, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles). Goyer also acts as executive produce through his company Phantom Four with Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow), who serves as showrunner. Colm McCarthy (Peaky Blinders) directed the pilot.

The cast includes: Cameron Cuffe (The Halcyon) as Seg-El, Georgina Campbell (After Hours) as Lyta Zod, Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones) as Val-El, Elliot Cowan (Da Vinci’s Demons) as Daron Vex, Ann Ogbomo (Wonder Woman) as Primus Alura Zod, Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness) as Kem, Wallis Day (The Royals) as Nyssa Vex and Aaron Pierre (Britannia) as Dev-Em.

“Krypton” premieres on TV on March 21 on Syfy.
