Brent Spiner Out, Bruce Boxleitner In for “Supergirl” Season 4

Earlier this month actor Brent Spiner, best known for his role as Data on “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, was announced as joining the cast of “Supergirl” for Season 4 playing the role of Vice President of the United States. Now, due to family issues conflicting with the show’s schedule, Bruce Boxleitner (Babylon 5) will play the role.

As a recurring character, Boxleitner’s Vice President Baker is described as being “adept and politically minded”. Vice President Baker “makes for an unlikely leader, but steps up in a big way when his country needs him most.”

With President Olivia Marsdin, played by Lynda Carter, set to return in Season 4, there’s no doubt the new season will continue to address political issues in the face of National City’s growing “human-first” movement.

Season 4 of “Supergirl” will premiere on The CW on Sunday, October 14 at 8.00pm.

Family issues? I think he just read the script.

I can’t say that I’m not disappointed about Brent Spiner not being on the show. I was looking forward to his appearance on the show.

To the person who gave me the -1, you’re a cyber bully.

Spidey, I sympathise with you. Must be a DC fundamentalist who would probably only stop -1´ing you after renaming to Supes2878. Until then I consider it a running gag.

Thank you for your sympathies about my dilemma Stefan-El. I appreciate it. Yeah, I don’t know why he does it either. Maybe it is my profile name he doesn’t like. I’m not changing it though. If I did, then I would be caving into a bully. I’m not going to change my profile name because of a bully. It’s his problem if he doesn’t like it, not mine. I mean, a picture is worth a thousand words. And even though my profile name says spidey, my profile picture says my favorite superhero is superman. I think of Tobey Maguire’s first… Read more »

And maybe thinking it as a running gag is the best way to look at it. Like how the audience would make a booing or hissing sound when Johnny Carson made a bad joke in his skit as the great Karnack.I think I spelled his name right. Not that I didn’t like Carson, I thought he was a funny comedian. He had a great show too.

Perhaps Captain Picard recruited him for his new show?

I heard that Picard is coming back for a Star Trek show.It will happen next year I think. I know it’s not Superman related. Sorry about that, I just thought it was worth mentioning since the subject was kinda about Data.

Haha I was referring to the same thing. I’ve never been a big Star Trek Guy, but I love TNG and the recent films. Not sure if you ever watched the show, but I’ve always said that if they make Mxyzptlk like ‘Q’ from that show, that would make for a great villain! I’d bet dollars to donuts that ‘Q’ was partly based on Mxy.

True. Mxy, and Q are very much alike. If these two were to fight, I wonder who would win in a battle of magic and reality tampering?

Wow. It sounds like more politics will creep into this already overburdened political super hero show. Can’t we just see some fun action? When you have such a charismatic star, you do not need politics. There is already a plethora of shows on TV to take on that subject. I like to watch shows like this to escape reality, not have it woven into the plots and storylines.

I find it ironic that the show moved to Sunday where you have all those political talk shows. AND PEOPLE DO NOT NEED ANY MORE POLITICS ON A SUNDAY NIGHT! Which is why I have quit watching it!
