I think that a major problem that has happened to Superman is that they’ve changed him to much. His costume, his motto, his family. His kid was ten and in the coarse of a few months, aged to a young adult. And from what I’ve heard, Superman’s not even on earth as Superman anymore. From the looks of this poll, fans want a familiar classic Superman. Not his son who is a Substitute Superman. That’s just what I’m seeing from these poll results. I really do think that with all the recent changes that they have made to Superman, even… Read more »

“I hope DC takes notice of the interest..” I don’t have a lot of faith in DC’s ability to learn anything anymore.

Sadly I have a feeling that they won’t listen to any words that I say, but I’m still holding out hope that they will. Even if it’s a small hope. Still, We have Superman 78. and for now at least I’m happy with that. Only wish it was a continuing series instead of a mini series, but I’ll take what I can get.

I voted for “don’t read comics”– and I refuse to read any Superman comics, until they undo the secret identity nonsense in the ongoing.

I thought about that and I have for the most part but just speaking for me and not to criticize your decision for yourself, I decided that I would still buy comics and trades where the secret identity was intact (and provided I enjoyed other aspects as well of course) as a way of speaking/voting with my dollars. That way I can at least say “Yes I still like Superman but no I do not like what you’re doing in the current mainline comics.” So at the moment that basically means Superman ’78 and trades or hardcovers of older pre-Bendis… Read more »

That’s perfectly valid. The secret identity thing isn’t the only reason I dropped comics, it was just adding insult to injury. I was already iffy with the direction they were going with Bendis and single issues cost WAY too much, as far as I’m concerned. Superman is also my gateway to comics, so essentially, if I’m not buying Superman, I’m not buying comics in general. I wouldn’t be opposed to collecting some older trades either, on principle, I just don’t do it for financial reasons. As far as hobbies go, comics tend to be a bit of a luxury at… Read more »

I had dropped when Jon was aged up and reading about the secret identity was basically unequivocal confirmation that I’d made the right call.

Currently I’m unable to go to any comic shop to buy Superman comics. The one I went to moved their shop. On top of that, the virus happened which prevented me from looking for a new place to buy comics in fear of catching the bug. So currently I try to see if I can buy any Superman comics that I’m interested in online. I also check to see what reviews are out and what fellow Superman fans say about a title so I can decide if it’s worth buying or not.

“It is forbidden for you to interfere with human history, rather, let your leadership stir others to.”-Marlon Brando’s Jor-el from Superman the movie. I know that the movie and the comics don’t share a continuity, but DC and the current writers for Superman’s comics, specifically Tom Taylor, could learn from this quote as how to write Superman comics. By replacing “The American Way“ with “a better world” would mean Jon will be interfering with humans forming their own history. And by telling his father that he needs to do more, would also mean that he wants his father to interfere with humans… Read more »

I want to make a correction in one of my sentances. I should’ve typed “prevent them from forming their own history” not ”prevent them from forming there own history”. I typed “there” when I should’ve typed “ their”. Typo

I’m sort of stuck on buying Superman comics. HUGE collection. I have every (main title) Superman comics from 1980 to the present. If I stop buying them, there goes the continuing streak. I’ll have a break in continuity.

I’m impressed. A collection of every main title of Superman since the 1980’s to today is what I call dedication.
