As we reported earlier this month, James Gunn’s “Superman” movie has earned a nomination for Best Visual Effects at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards, placing the DC superhero film alongside major blockbusters in one of Hollywood’s most competitive technical categories.
In a new video posted on the Warner Bros. social media channels, we go behind the scenes to see how the “Superman” VFX team built some of the film’s most eye-popping visuals, making beloved dog Krypto feel as though he leapt straight from the pages of a comic book.

The film’s visual effects team—Stephane Ceretti, Enrico Damm, Stéphane Nazé, and Guy Williams—will compete against heavy hitters including “Avatar: Fire and Ash”, “F1”, “Frankenstein”, “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning”, and “Sinners” when the 2026 Critics Choice Awards ceremony airs live on January 4, 2026.
