Attend a “Superman Lives” Performance in Manhattan Beach

“Superman Live”, the never-made film written by Kevin Smith, which would have starred Nicolas Cage as Superman, is being performed as a table read performance at The Comic Bug in Manhattan Beach, California.

The free event will be held on Saturday, July 13 starting at 7.00pm, with the first 100 people receiving a free “Superman Lives” commemorative poster created by Ralph Miranda.

Based loosely on the Death and Return of Superman storyline, Brainiac employs the services of Doomsday to bring about the Man of Steel’s demise. Featuring the witty banter we’ve come to expect from Kevin Smith, this table read promises to be more entertaining than Man of Steel, Batman v Superman and Justice League combined!

Brought to you by the fine folks at Skeleton Crew Productions (Secret Santa) and Cattywampus Productions (12 Sided Die) and featuring a spectacular cast of actors and amazing sound design by Thirsty Crowes Chris Saunders.

Don’t get me wrong MattComics, I do agree with you that this movie would have been a total mess, and a mistake had it been made. However, since it would have been directed by Tim Burton, I can’t help but wonder what his take would have been like. After all, Tim did direct in my opinion one of the greatest Batman films if not the greatest Batman film in history. So I can’t help but wonder what his version of Superman would’ve been like. So if I had the chance to see it just once, I’d see it to fulfill… Read more »

You don’t have to explain yourself Superman2878. I get what you’re saying and it’s fine. I think that speaking just for me this project was so bad I don’t even know why anybody wants to keep bringing it up let alone has the genuine curiosity that you do about it. I guess as a Superman fan I would be just as well if this thing had been left in the dustbin of history. A mere footnote about a Hollywood bullet this character once dodged. Though I’ll at least give it points for trying to get Brainiac on screen instead of… Read more »

Thank you for understanding me MattComics. I tend to over explain myself sometimes. Lol But yeah, I agree with you that Burton’s Superman movie would have been a bad idea had it been made. Still, he did have Doomsday in his script. So I do give him credit on that part of the story. Although Doomsday being in this movie would also have been a mistake, since he would’ve been introduced way too early in the franchise in my opinion. I see Doomsday as a villain that should be in a third or fourth installment of a franchise. That way… Read more »
