Annie Ross, best known to Superman fans as Vera Webster (the sister of Ross Webster) in the movie “Superman III,” has passed away, aged 89.
While many a young Superman fan was given nightmares when her character was overtaken by Gus Gorman’s super computer in the film, Annie Ross was known for far more than her role in “Superman III”. Born to Scottish vaudevillians, Ross grew up singing and acting, and became one of the most dynamic jazz artists of her generation.
Ross died at her home in Manhattan on July 21, having suffered with emphysema and heart disease. Our condolences to her family and friends.
