Amy Adams on Whether She’ll Return as Lois Lane

Amy Adams, who played Lois Lane in the recent Superman films, sat down for a chat with Nicole Kidman on an episode of “Actors on Actors” for Variety, speaking about Kidman’s role in the upcoming “Aquaman” movie.

During the discussion Adams commented that her time in the DC Films cinematic universe was likely over.

“I think I’m out of the DC Universe now.”, she said. “I think they’re revamping that. I don’t know the details.”

Adams debuted as Lois Lane in “Man of Steel”, before reprising the role in both “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Justice League”.

Well this is Awkward…

It’s sucks that Superman and Lois have to suffer because Goyer and Snyder did a Terrible job bringing them to screen. It also sucks that the studio execs up until now have been incompetent. Blame the writer , director and studio. Not the characters or actors.

What a waste of a terrific actress.

Makes sense. Even if Henry isn’t out, they’ll be using him as their Iron Man, doing cameos and the occasional team-up as a monolith. Even that’s a big “if”. I can’t see a way in which they could really reboot the DCEU and only replace Amy, that would seem extremely disrespectful. This probably means that we all should make sure we survive another decade on this planet, because that’s roughly when we’ll get a new Superman movie. Yay.

Congrats, WB, you blew it.

Fine by me. She wasn’t very good as Lois. Might have been better in different circumstances with a better director/writer, but even then I still have my doubts. From the moment she opened her mouth with the “Measuring Richards” line in MOS I never really bought her as the character. Not to mention I found her chemistry with Cavill to be nearly non-existent. The relationship between Clark/Lois/Superman should be fun to watch, and it just wasn’t with those two. On a side not, I hope the next film, hopefully franchise, will re-establish the secret identity aspect of that relationship. I’m… Read more »

I’m not sure if “fun to watch” is what’s going to add to anything between them. Moving on from this Lois and Clark theme is part of moving forward. I would be fine with them not being compatible because he isn’t human. Makes more sense.

The worse part of all of this is what we’ve all been treated to since the JL. Add that’s total silence from the WB. It is unfortunately looking like Henry is out. And out just by association. In fact the way they ended the JL, it sorta felt like everything is OUT. Other than the slight bit of direction from Luthor at the end, there was absolutely nothing that had things moving forward or tying up lose ends. A third re-boot?? I guess it could happen. If it does I hope it goes it’s own way and doesn’t follow any… Read more »

Marvel movies absolutely have their faults and while there are certain ones where I can say that maybe they cranked the humor dial a little too high, they are NOT Adam West Batman. Part of their success has been exactly because of a willingness to let kids and adults share the love of superheroes rather than making it an adults only club for an ever narrowing swath of the fandom who believes grimdark should be the default solution to everything. ..and while I would be ok with them starting out with Lois not knowing Clark’s secret identity I would still… Read more »

What you said MattComics reminded me of what Superman said to the Martian man Hunter when they were fighting each other in the else worlds comic, Son of Superman. In it Martian says to Superman that they are merely visitors on this planet, to which Superman responds by saying he’s wrong, and that Martian man hunter is the strange visitor while Superman is an adopted son.

I just feel that she really doesn’t know what is happening with the franchise at the moment. I dont think that Henry is out, and neither will she if and when they make a new film. Question is, WHEN?

I’m not surprised. WB has “no plans” for a future Superman movie. Whenever they do, at a minimum, it’s going to be 4 years to get a writer, director, script, cast and so on together. And that’s from the point they decide they DO have plans. Bringing that cast back will not make much sense after being absent for half a decade or longer. I’m willing to be that Superman will be absent longer than Batman and we all know how Batman is going. So who knows when Superman will be back on the silver screen. I don’t see them… Read more »
