“Action Comics #1000” Tops Sales Charts for 2018

Action Comics #1000

2018 was definitely the year of Superman, with the Man of Steel claiming the best-selling single comic book issue in his 80th year with “Action Comics #1000”.

Diamond Comic Distributors announced that last year’s 1000th issue of “Action Comics” was the top-selling comic of 2018, with the oversized special edition rising in sales by 3.3 percent compared with 2017.

The book, which saw writer Brian Michael Bendis’ make his debut at DC Comics, helped the publisher becomes the number two publisher behind Marvel Entertainment.

The accompanying “Action Comics: 80 Years of Superman” hardcover reached fifth place in the top 10 graphic novels of 2018.

This is fantastic news. Firstly, it’s fantastic news because Superman is great and he deserves it. Secondly, I love hearing this news because it’s raw, concrete, indisputable evidence that people like Superman and that there are tons of people who enjoy his stories. So, whenever these “negative haters of Superman” come along (*cough* *cough* SOME-Batman-fanboys and Marvel fanboys *cough* *cough*) then this is epic, solid irrefutable evidence that the character of Superman is NOT boring, and that in fact, tons of people buy and read Superman comics.
