Kevin gets a taste of what it's like to be an animal when, while flying around the desert on a joyride, Krypto just wants to go home but Kevin keeps insisting they fly some more around the world despite him being tired. Receiving a distress signal from a baby cub in a tree, Krypto sets Kevin down on the ground to rescue it while Kevin marvels at the African scenery and stumbles upon a massive spaceship. He goes inside discovering the mechanism and stumbles upon its operations and discovers its run by a family of three giant alien cats who are going home with samples from Earth. They accidentally take off with Kevin on board. After saving the cub and returning it to its mother, Krypto discovers the ship taking off but is too late to save Kevin. Frightened, Kevin is discovered by the family and the cat cub, the son, wants to keep Kevin as a pet. Much to Kevin's chagrin, they take him home, against his will, to their planet and he has no way of getting home. Confused, Krypto enlists the help of the Dog Stars to help find Kevin whose taken home to the planet and shown a land of giant houses and is kept in his own doghouse. Kevin learns what it's like to be an animal and what it's like when you demand too much of them when he's forced to run around and do tricks.

Now, I was saying that the show should have more characters associated with Krypto instead of the countless references to the DC universe and this show has some good supporting characters like the Dog Stars whom I like. They're basically the animal equivalent to the Justice League and are some good superheroes for a show such as this. Now while I forgive the inevitable tired reference to the Baha Men's one hit, which will remain nameless, I did like the episode. The world was very imaginative, and the action was exciting while funny. I especially liked when Krypto finally saves Kevin and starts making him do tricks to convince the family of cats that he's his pet. Not to mention there's more focus on the relationship between Kevin and Krypto which I like. It helps the progression of the show. While I know this is a part of DC, sticking to the original characters of Krypto works more than the tongue in cheek references and this was a fun episode.

Dem Bones

Written by: Jennifer Evans Gardner
Directed by: Scott Jeralds

Out at the Metropolis dog park while the owners and dogs play, Krypto and Streaky watch the activity while Streaky complains that cats don't get the same treatment as dogs with their own park. Flying around town Krypto saves a group of dogs as Streaky watches on cowardly and the two discover the dogs acting like ducks and birds. Confused, they go around town and discover it isn't an isolated incident and that all the dogs are acting like other animals. Stumped they begin discovering the dogs all ate the popular Doggy Yum Yum Bones dog treats and head over to the factory. The doggy yum yum bones factory are producing funny bones being doused by none other than Snooky Wookums of Mekanikat infamy. She's dousing the bones with chemicals to make the dogs act funny. Krypto and Streaky stumble upon her and put a stop to her operation. While stopping her, Snooky Wookums falls into a mixing vat and Krypto interrogates her discovering Mekanikat is dousing the bones to make the dogs in Metropolis helpless, especially the ones in STAR Labs. Before Krypto and Streaky can fly off, it's too later as Mekanikat rushes through STAR Labs looking for gems, but before Krypto can stop him, we discover he's really after Kryptonite and catches him off-guard. Streaky decides to take it upon himself to save Krypto and uses dogs who think they're mice to attack Mekanikat and save him before it's too late. As always, I like the episodes focusing on Streaky as he becomes a hero when Krypto is taken down and I like the animation with the dogs which was really funny watching them act like other animals. I like Mekanikat, and he serves as a good villain to Krypto and is really interesting to see what exactly he's got planned for Metropolis. Good episode all around.
