September 2, 2016: Georgina Campbell Cast as Lyta Zod for “Krypton”

imageGeorgina Campbell (After Hours) has been cast in the role of Lyta Zod for the “Krypton” TV series.

The British actress will play the lead female role which is described as a member of Krypton’s military caste and the daughter of a general, Alura Zod. Lyta Zod serves as a cadet – and has also been having a clandestine, forbidden romance with Seg-El.

Based on the DC Comics characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Krypton is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. It follows Superman’s grandfather Seg-El – whose House of El was ostracized and shamed – as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.

This marks the U.S. TV debut for Campbell, who won the BAFTA Television Award for Leading Actress in 2015 for Murdered by My Boyfriend. She soon will be seen in the upcoming third season of Broadchurch as well as the feature King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, directed by Guy Ritchie. Campbell is repped by Independent Talent.

David S. Goyer and showrunner Damian Kindler executive produce Krypton for WBTV and Goyer’s Phantom Four. Colm McCarthy serves as co-executive producer and will direct the pilot from a story and teleplay by Goyer & Ian Goldberg. The pilot will be filmed in Serbia.

Much like Gotham, I still am of 2 ways about it how will it translate on the screen. It could be a hit or miss. It’d make for a good science fiction series in the effort of Babylon 5 if done right sans the soap opera shenanigan of today’s TV standards.
We’ll have to wait and see.

She is beautiful and talented from what I have seen, so I wouldn’t worry about her acting ability.

I’m really surprised they are going through with this. I’m glad others are excited, but I just can’t. I’ll give the first episode a try and see how that goes.
