November 29, 2016: “Supergirl” is on Earth 38

In a new “Inside” featurette for tonight’s episode of “The Flash”, which is the first part of the 3-part “Invasion” crossover event, executive producer Todd Helbing reveals that Earth 38 is the world that “Supergirl” belongs to.

For those unfamiliar with the concept of Earth-38, that version of Earth in the Multiverse is very similar to the main Earth, Earth-Prime. Earth-38 is home to a Superman that debuted in 1938 and a Batman that first appeared in 1939. Unlike many other worlds, the passage of time on Earth-38 matches that of Earth-Prime.

You can read more about Earth-38 at the DC Comics “Multiversity” web page.

Now we just need to find out which specific Multiverse the Berlanti-Verse resides in, lol. Current DC Comics are Multiverse One. Multiverse Two has already been destroyed…

I’m still calling it Earth S.

I guess it’s fitting to have the only multiverse Earth with Superman and Supergirl be the one that in comic book canon Superman showed up the same year as his first published comic book, but for the life of me I still can’t understand the reasoning behind not using Flashpoint as a plot device to merge CW’s Earth-1 with Earth-38. I doubt that if Supergirl had premiered on the CW instead of CBS, she would’be been in a different Earth, so why not?

Because you would be wondering why supergirl or superman doesn’t show up to help every week

Nah, if the comic books can get away with this kind of thing, TV can as well. Besides, by Oliver’s standards, pretty much every one of his super-hero friends can take over for him and do the job better than he does. Same old story.

Except they were already asking this question all last year for Supergirl. Why doesn’t Superman help her more often? They would come up with convoluted reasons or stupid ones to keep him sidelined. Last year arrow had to stop nuclear weapons. Imagine how that would have played out with the fans if Supergirl was around and didn’t show up and 10 thousand people died?
