September 2, 2012: Justice League/Transformers Crossover That Never Happened

JLA/Transformers Fans often dream about what it would be like if such-and-such a character came up against another character from a different universe, and sometimes the companies who own those characters manage to make it happen. Then there are other times when the deal falls through and a project remains unseen.

Such is the case with a proposed "Justice League/Transformers" crossover pitched by artist Phil Jimenez, who made available a couple of pieces of art, one of which shows Megatron clutching Superman's tattered cape.

"Oh, what an epic that would have been," Jimenez wrote last night on Twitter, saying to one follower, "You missed out on Wonder Woman's invisible jet becoming a very cool Transformer." You can get a peek of that in the image [below], along with an enormous Bat-former and, perhaps best of all, Optimus Prime as a Green Lantern. (He added this morning, "Giving credit where credit is due: the idea for Optimus Prime as a GL was none other than [IDW Publishing Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall's]."
