February 28, 2009: DC Nation Panel at Wondercon 2009

By Jeffrey Taylor.

Attended by Ian Sattler, James Robinson, Paul Dini, Bob Wayne, Liz Gherlin and Aaron Lopresti.

First off Ian Sattler spoke about Superman. I had just interviewed him before the panel about Superman (interview coming soon), so he mentioned our conversation as a prelude to the continuation of the New Krypton saga, which included a video presentation that will be available at DC's website in a few weeks.

Robinson explained that the most recent issue of "Superman" showed Superman leaving Earth and he will not return for a while, which will lead into "World of New Krypton".

He went on to say that Greg Rucka's "Action Comics" was incredible.

The story of "World of New Krypton" will affect the stories in "Superman", "Action Comics" and "Supergirl".

It takes more than one hero to fill the boots of Superman, which is why Nightwing, Flamebird, Mon-El, Steel, Black Lightning and Zatarra will be in the Superman books.

The history of planet Daxam will be explored in an upcoming annual.

Kryptonians are now illegal on Earth, so Supergirl actually needs a secret identity to be there.

The Atlas story will pay off soon.

Ian Sattler chimed back in to say that he loves the Superman books right now and wants to geek out and tell everybody about what's going to happen, but can't for obvious reasons.

After the Superman portion of the discussion, "Batman: Battle for the Cowl" and "Green Lantern: Blackest Night" were showcased.

There are plans for a series set on one of the alternate Earth's, but DC is waiting for Grant Morisson to return later in the year exploring it further before allowing other creators to move forward with it.
