January 29, 2009: Superman in "Final Crisis #7" Really President Obama?
According to the Daily Record, the Superman in the opening pages of Final Crisis #7 is supposed to be President Barack Obama, and the Wonder Woman Beyonce Knowles. We know it sounds far-fetched, especially given the dissimilar visual representation between the President and the man in the comic. However it may sound, Final Crisis writer Grant Morrison has confirmed at least part of this story to be true:
- As I was writing it, I heard Obama making a joke about being born on the planet Krypton and being sent to Earth by his father Jor-El to save the world.
I thought it would be a fitting end to all the darkness in America recently.
All the comics have been dealing with darkness recently and, having defeated evil, it's now time to celebrate.
Here's hoping Super-Obama imposes sanctions on countries known to harbor Kryptonite-hearted terrorists ... and sets the quest for peace a higher priority than re-election.
