Mattel's Display

March 19, 2006: Superman News from Wizard World L.A.

The Pulse has posted some highlight from the DCU "One Year Later" panel from Wizard World L.A. this weekend. Some of the Superman related notes include...
  • Mark Verheiden writes Superman/Batman starting with a Kevin Maguire drawn Nightwing and Flamebird homage. Issue # 28 starts Ethan Van Sciver as regular artist with Martian Manhunter, Dr. Phosphorus, and Titano in an "insane six issue arc." Verheiden said Green Lantern shows up in the next art with Superman vs. Kilowog.

  • All Star Superman features a tale where Jimmy Olsen is made the director of PROJECT.

  • 52 is DCU without Batman, Superman, WW for a year.

  • Conner Kent - Titan lineup is not revealed. The team has "gone through" 20 members during the year of "52" with some characters dying.

  • The Teen Titans move to the west coast and a new team of homeless kids forms the new east coast group - "they're the bad version of the Titans. Their leader is the first white trash superhero"

  • Metal Men return in a Superman/Batman 3 issue arc with a new origin.

Newsarama has also posted some notes...
  • Geoff Johns told the audience Infinite Crisis #6 is when the whole series comes together, and the purpose of the series comes forth.

  • General Zod? "Yes."

Meanwhile ComicsContinuum also reports that Smallville television character Chloe Sullivan appears headed to the pages of DC Comics books soon.

Asked about the character during Friday's DC panel at Wizard World Los Angeles, Superman line editor Matt Idelson said, "Yes, there are plans," something that took even executive editor Dan DiDio off guard.

Of all the displays at the convention, most fans agree that Mattel's "Superman Returns" display (pictured) was most prominent.
