April 10, 2005: Superman Filmed in Sydney CBD

News.com.au have published the following article by Nicole Azzopardi and Jonathon Moran.

SHOOTING of the Superman prequel Superman Returns continued today in a park in Sydney's central business district.

Actress Kate Boswell, who plays Lois Lane in the latest Superman flick, was on location at Sydney's Wynyard Park.

City streets around York Street and Wynyard Station have been closed off today and tomorrow for filming.

Sporting freshly dyed brown hair, Boswell was joined on set by James Marsden who plays Lois Lane's love interest, Richard White.

Known for his role as Cyclops in the X-Men movies, Marsden's character may be heading for heartbreak when the Man of Steel comes along.

Little known US actor Brandon Routh will don Superman's garb in the latest Hollywood revival.

The 25-year-old was signed to star in the reincarnation of Superman, due to hit screens in 2006, following an exhaustive search for an actor to fill the role made famous by Christopher Reeve, who died last year.

A number of locations have included a property 45km outside Tamworth.

The property was transformed into a Kansas family home where a young Clark Kent grew up before taking on his Superman identity. Director Bryan Singer, of X-Men fame, and producers Chris Lee and Gil Adler are using Sydney's Fox Studios as their production base.

Other cast members to appear in Superman Returns include Sam Huntington as Jimmy Olsen and Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor.
