July 10, 2014: DC Comics Reveals "Selfie" Variant Covers for AugustPrint

Batman/Superman #34 DC Comics has given Newsarama.com and ComicBookResources.com a first look at some of the variant covers for comic books due out in August, which will feature a "Selfie" theme across all the books.

Throughout August, the publisher is releasing a number of special selfie-themed variants featuring the likes of Batman, Supergirl, Aquaman and more snapping a lighthearted photo of themselves - or photobombing someone else's self portrait.

Some of the "Selfie" variant covers for the Superman family of characters include "Justice League United #4" by Emanuela Lupacchino, "Action Comics #34" by Gary Frank, "Batman/Superman #14" by Paulo Siqueira, "Superman #34" by Neil Edwards and Danny Miki, "Superman/Wonder Woman #11" by Tony S. Daniel, and "The Flash #34" by Eddy Barrows and Eber Ferreira.

You know I've dropped my phone more then a couple times while out walking...I'm surprised Superman and the Flash can hold onto their phones while flying/running.

Like the one with Bats and the Supegirl one, however the looong arm and Flash' eyes do not look quite right to me.

Can we please have Gary Frank or Paolo Siquiera as the artist on the Superman title instead of John Romita, Jr.?

Like all these amusing covers. Would love to see a live action scene in a Justice League movie where Superman races the Flash for charity. Instead of showing two blurs whiz by (we got a taste of that with Faora in Man of Steel where she takes out several Special Forces soldiers in mere seconds), they could shoot the scene like they did with Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past where he seems to be moving at normal speed and everyone else is moving in extreme slow motion. Or they could borrow ideas from the upcoming Flash TV show to depict superspeed on land.

Going by the look on Flash's face on that Eddy Barrows cover, it appears Mr. Allen has been tapping into a different kind of "Speed" Force.

But I must admit It is AWESOME to see New52 Superman smile as opposed to brood, scowl, or smirk.

Interesting cover concept. Too bad its variant.

It looks as if Barry is thinking, "Caffeine! The only chemical I can't super-metabolize!"

That Superman/Batman shot is, to me, by far the best that the New52 Superman has ever looked.

Nice!

Good job, New52 - you've finally found something I like enough (since the early jeans shot) to make my wallpaper for awhile!
