If you could change "Man of Steel"'s title, what would it be and why?

Personally, I'd prefer Superman's name to be in the title, but not called, "Superman" alone, since there was already such a title used in 1978 with the same character. To me, I think "The Amazing Spider-Man" sounds a little hoaky, using "Spider-Man" even though that title was used before, sounds better, but I mean I thought there could have been better titles such as, "The Spectacular Spider-Man" that would have sounded better. Same with "The Incredible Hulk" instead of "The Hulk." I think "Superman: The Man of Steel" wouldn't sound that bad as a title, the point is, it would work, if you're talking about The Superman. Definetly don't want to use "The Adventures of Superman." Or...how about "Superman: Rise of Zod" as a title? "Superman: Birthright", "Superman: Man of Tomorrow"? In my opinion, "The Dark Knight" for a title doesn't sound badass, and as a name. I think there are heroes with far cooler names and nick names than "The Dark Knight." "Man of Steel" The fact that it's a 'Man'....'of Steel' sounds kind of lame to me. I fear in spite of this, some audiences who are new to Superman might think that Superman is made of steel, but he's clearly stronger than steel, that could give them an excuse to think that Hulk is stronger, just because Hulk is bigger. But Superman was the first superhero. You can't compete....God. There should be more good reasons for why a Superman movie is being made...he is the strongest of them all. Let's face it, most of...okay, a majority of superheroes are trying to be like him! Kids just don't know it. Not to steal Iron Man's quote but, maybe "I Am Superman" would be a cool title. Okay, your thoughts? Point is, I want the name "Superman" in the title. If it has to be "Man of Steel", I can't live with it, but it sounds like they're trying to compete with Nolan's Batman movies. ![]() ~I look upon my powers as a gift...Not mine alone, but for anyone who needs them~ Superman: Peace on Earth Click Here to see my Super Fan Art!: http://groups.msn...lery2.msnw |

Superman Vs. Zod

Putting 'Zod' in the title would be marketing suicide. Man of Steel sounds fine to me. Easy, miss. I've got you.

So because of that we can just assume that title is okay, because it's Chris Nolan? Don't forget David S. Goyer also wrote the story. No offense but I think Christopher Nolan is a bit overated. I thought Batman Begins was epic, but The Dark Knight looked to me, like it was rushed. Too much editing. Too many events happening in one sequence, also alot of clockwise shots (not sure what that word would be...rotating the camera around the actor, that) and too many single held shots (bumpy camera). I didn't think it was a masterpiece. "Man of Steel" is fine...but it's just fine, and...only fine. But think about it, Marvel Studios almost went with the title, "The First Avenger: Captain America." Thank God they reversed the title. Wolverine could have done so much better without that stupid nod, "You know? The X-Men? This is Wolverine from X-Men, not someone else" It should have just been called, "Wolverine." But because this is Superman, the king of all superheroes, and hopefully this is the Superman movie, then they should use "Superman." Otherwise, "Man of Steel" sounds like it's Superman trying to be like "The Dark Knight." ![]() ~I look upon my powers as a gift...Not mine alone, but for anyone who needs them~ Superman: Peace on Earth Click Here to see my Super Fan Art!: http://groups.msn...lery2.msnw |

I see where you're coming from, but I'm OK with Man of Steel. I have tried to think of what title you could have with "Superman" in it but I cant come up with one. If it's "Man of Tomorrow" then most people won't even know who/what that is about, whereas I think Man of Steel is a title that the general population will know is about Superman. What about "Superman : Last Son of Krypton" ??? But then thats a bit long and will only get shortened to Superman anyway. The title isn't that important to me anyway, im more concerned/interested about other aspects of the movie. His name is Kal-El. He will call himself Clark Kent, but the world will know him as Superman.

If they could come up with something interesting, there's still time, I mean, I'm okay with "Man of Steel" as their working title, but I was expecting we'd get a cool-ass title sooner or later.

Like everyone else I like Man of Steel but keeping your guideline of having Superman in the title how about Superman Adventures. or a kind of unusal one how about Superman Origin? As for why in someways both have the same reason it is the begining and beside this being set up as the begining of the story and teling many different origins/adventures not just limited to where he came from, but also the story/adventure of his early years on Earth, maybe the story of how the powers manisfested themselves, what he did before he went to Metropolis, his debut as Superman, etc. |

I do agree with you that the movie content is more important than the title. I for one want to see a super script, super acting and super special effects.
