I've been reading a lot here about keeping Brandon Routh as Superman, there are also those who seem to want Tom Welling to step in. This thread is not meant to bad talk either actor so lets put them both aside and I want to hear who you would cast in the reboot as Superman/CK/Kal-El. Pretend for a moment that you have been charged with casting someone else to play the Man of Steel. This actor should be a working actor and be strong enough to own the role for at least three films. Post a picture if you can to help visualize. Drago

Just go with an unknown. No one wants to see an established actor as the Man of Tomorrow.

EMM622 is first up with Jim Caviezel. Again try to steer clear of Routh or Welling.

No way. Caviezel looks too much like a low-level mobster. I liked him in Frequency, don't get me wrong. But Routh should probably stay. |

I think Henry Cavill could pull it off. He resembles Superman in his own way without looking like previous Superman portrayers. |

Cavill was a fan-favorite before SR was announced. I know he had a part in The Tudors, but that show is painfully long, so I have yet to sit down and watch. An issue there was with him, just like with Routh, was that he was -and looked- too young; at least back then. Any recent pictures of him? Edited by NeoRanger on 24/08/2008 09:33 |

It has to be an unknown actor. |

Cavill is not tall enough. He's kind of short. However, he does look more grown up in The Tudors (and he still looks like CR's son) |

I can't think of a single mainstream actor who could fit in the role right now. If Routh polishes his acting chops, he should be able to pull it off. He could be like Judy Dench as M in the Bond series - the franchise rebooted, but kept her as M. |

It is very hard to come up with someone. I'm trying to think along the lines of Christian Bale caliber pre Batman Begins.

You guys might think I'm insane but what about Josh Lucas? He seems tall. He could easily be a chunk of a man if he went through a regiment. Blue eyes. Blond but that can be changed. Seems like he could have grown up on a farm and later became a journalist. Good guy in general persona. Here's a pic with dark hair: ![]() And without:

Let's not get into this discussion yet until the WB says who is being let go and who is not. Remember, Judy Dench stayed on as M on the James Bond reboot. |

They should really keep Brandon Routh as a payback to the fans of 'SR' (myself). I really wanted a sequel. Can't they do a hybrid?. If not, then i can't argue since the prez of WB said they want to 'reintroduce' Superman. As i've said before if it's a reboot, i would like to see Birthright Krypton not the same obviously but very similar. Not a ice cube of a planet Krypton please ![]() Now to post this message else where......(evil laugh) ![]() Superman: "You said that the world doesn't need a savior, but everyday I hear people crying for one"
Wise and true words. |

Personally, I too perfer an unknown. But, for the sake of debate (and a lack of actors thus far) how about the TALL Daniel Cudmore, or perhaps Prince Caspian himself, Ben Barnes
"Really, Lois, supposing that man had shot you? Is it really worth risking your life over ten dollars, two credit cards, a hairbrush and a lipstick?
