According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has pushed back the release of the second “Justice League” movie from its original 2019 date in favor of Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie.

The “Justice League” sequel was supposed to be released on June 14, 2019.

The 2017 and 2019 Justice League films were originally announced by Warner Bros. to be filmed back-to-back. Filming for the first Justice League wrapped up in October and will be released in November 2017.

Smart move. The universe will be set up and in full swing. That’s when you take a step back and start do8ng the solo movies. I think we’ll see a Batman, Superman, flash, aquaman, green Lantern and maybe even WW sequel before they go into JL 2. AND since they want to use Darkseid it will put enough time between Marvel and Thanos.

Even though I would have loved it to be released as originally scheduled, from a creative standpoint this will give the film makers enough time to figure it out thoroughly. Hopefully the wait will be worth it.

And still nothing more concrete on ‘Man of Steel 2’? Disappointed.

I would expect to hear more on that as we go. Right now it’s confirmed to be in active development. That’s about all we really can know at this point. Once they have a script that is solid enough to set a date I’m sure we’ll hear them announce a release date for that too…

I think a MOS sequel will be iffy. How their going to handle the Clark Kent issue since everyone saw him dead(?) in his casket is going to be a challenge unless they pull off some go back in time nonsense. And who knows how they’re going to pull off Superman’s return and what he will be like.

One other thing. I DO NOT want any plot stories regarding his mind being taken over and fighting the rest of the JL.

Amen to that, brother. I hope to never see that on screen OR in the comics again. That also includes “Lois is dead and I must control the world from now on in her memory!” Yeah, you know what I’m tslkin’ about!

Gonna third this. No Injustice bs or mind-control or any other excuse for fighting the League and/or otherwise writing him out of being involved in the main action alongside the rest of the team.

You may end up being disappointed. Having Superman be evil and a thrall of Darkseid is just too tempting for some creators. Fingers crossed, though.

The only reason I think this may not happen now is that with Geoff Johns in charge they seem to be much more aware of the fans. I think they are listening more than they have in the past. So, I can see them making sure it’s not Superman. They could easily have Bizarro Superman be a creation of Darkseid/Brainiac and have that battle. As long as the world knows it’s not Superman fairly quickly and they see him protecting them, then I would be okay with that story.

What’s the confirmation on Man of Steel 2 being in active development?
Just wondering because I haven’t seen any confirmation by WB of there being any development on Man of Steel 2.

There’s an open slot now in July 2018 for something. I thought it was going to be for Affleck’s solo film, but 2019 is the date according to the story. I suppose they could push back the Flash given how it’s faced some production woes losing two directors, but I do have to wonder if they’d want an unknown commodity like that in a July slot. Spring is likely the ideal spot for it, but they may have no choice but to push it back. Whatever the case they don’t really have much time to figure things out if it’s… Read more »

I love Batman, but he’s already had an awesome trilogy… Can they make getting Superman right a higher priority?

No. Because Batman is their Cash Cow. Makes no sense to prioritize any other hero over him at this point if you are the studio. Superman will get another solo film, and in all honesty, I would rather they not rush it and get it as right as they can.

I hear what you’re saying. I’m just tired of the whole ‘batman is the bread winner’ excuse DC/Warner throws around. If BvS taught us anything it’s that attaching Batman does not guarantee you a billion dollar return. I agree with you that time and care need to be put into these movies and that includes picking the right directors and writers. I just wish they would showcase other Heroes rather then put so much emphasis on Batman. I am looking forward to a Ben Affleck directed Batman movie though. It’s just a shame they had to use the Frank Miller… Read more »

I’ve had enough Batman to last for 20 years, but I do understand the need to delay JL2. Hope we hear something firm about MOS2 soon. Supes is the first, greatest, and most important superhero and that actually shows in the DCEU. now, it needs to be capitalized on…

“I’ve had enough Batman to last for 20 years”.

I agree with this but I would tweak it to “I’ve had enough Dark Knight Returns to last a lifetime.” I wouldn’t mind seeing more Batman if we could finally cut the cord and let him be a superhero again.

Instead we’re getting “I am Batman. I am suicide.”

Maybe the delay is because our Wonder Women has announced she’s pregnant and that would interfere with their time table regarding being able to continue with the WW role in JL2.
