In an interview with EW’s “Entertainment Weirdly” radio show, “Beyond the Gates” director Jackson Stewart revealed that when he was a production assistant on the TV series “Supernatural”, there was talk of doing a crossover with “Smallville”.
“There was a lot of really cool ideas that some of the writers had,” Stewart said. “They had an episode where they really wanted to do a Superman curse that was about every actor who plays Superman ends up getting killed. So they find out that Tom Welling from Smallville is next and have to save him. I thought that was one of the funniest ideas that I’d heard.”
Obviously the crossover never happened… But it would have been interesting for them to explain how Dean Winchester (played by Jensen Ackles) looked so much like Clark’s assistant football coach Jason Teague.

They should totally do that episode now! Tom could spend the whole show going “But I never even played SUPERMAN! I just played Clark!” lol

I think this would have been hilarious. Supernatural is very good at doing Meta episodes. This is the one show that could pull it off and do it in a fun way.
I’m actually glad this did not happen. Sounds pretty tacky and insensitive.
But the CW should do a crossover between the Smallville universe and the other CW superhero shows, regardless.
If the CW just simply want to forget their 10 yrs #1 flagship show, let Fox by the rights to Smallville. Maybe Fox can have a crossover with Lucifer and do Smallville justice. God I love Lucifer, better than Supergirl and the other Smallville wannabes TV shows. Smallville will always be THEE Superman-centric show.
They could do it on The Flash with no real issues…BUT…it takes two to tango. The actors would have to agree to it. And, the CW would not ignore the possibility of making money. So if they thought bringing Smallville back for a one off short season they would. But, it shouldn’t be done unless it was done right. Everyone would need to be back.
