Roll Call: Superman, Aquaman, Green Lantern: John Stewart, Wonder Woman, Flash, The Batman

Chapter One:

The Super Friends are chasing after former villain Fortune in his new guise as Ace. Along with his new evil team mates The Royal Flush Gang! The new team prove ineffectual against the might of the Super Friends - until Bat-Mite, inter-dimensional annoyance, appears! The little creature demands that they allow Batman to save the day, but when they disagree he steals their combined powers and endows Bruce with them.

Batman temporarily subdues the Royal Flush Gang and demands the return of powers to their owners. Bat-Mite refuses and suddenly a nemesis appears - Mister Mxyzptlk!!

Creativity: Create A Comic activity.

Chapter Two:

Bat-Mite releases the villains but amps up the danger with gigantic talking vegetables. The powerless Super Friends decide if Batman can help them without abilities - so can they! Rigging several inventive traps they help Batman to capture Ace and the villains again.

Mxy is bowled over with laughter that Batman couldn't cope and with Bat-Mite still whining that Batman is the greatest hero ever - Mxy unleashes a world of magic so Bruce can prove himself.

Activity: Costume Corner - The Flash dress up kit.

Chapter Three:

Bruce points out that sometimes when odds are overwhelming, a team is needed. Everyone needs help sometimes. Bat-Mite admits that the bat family is a good team with Robin, Batgirl and Ace the Bat Hound. So his next act is to make the Super Friends into Bat Squad Friends!

With powers restored the team avert all the disasters Mxy conjured, while Mite tricks Mxy back to the Fifth dimension. Mite is gleeful that he has created a new super team for Batman and defeated Superman's imp.

He is as surprised as the Super Friends to discover they ALSO have imps and they are NOT happy! The Super Imps demand all the magic be removed and the world reverted and Bat-Mite admits defeat.

With everything back to normal perhaps the Super Friends can recapture the Royal Flush Gang?

Epilogue - Bat-Mite calls a meeting in the Fifth Dimension with all the other imps and proposes when they return in ninety days they work together to have fun in a world without their collective Superheroes... The End?

Activity: Bat-Mite & Mister Mxyzptlk hand puppets.

1Story - 1: Did I just feel my brain drip out of my ears? Giant talking vegetables, extra gigantic bottles of water, a syrup breathing dragon, BMX jellyfish, and an alien invasion. Ace has given up on his years of research into manipulating luck to create the Royal Flush Gang and at the end of the story they are still at large? Why the heck is this book still in existence? Surely Mattel don't own that much of DC's shares? The one point is for the epilogue as it shows some kind of continuity and development - if Steve allowed zeroes this book would nail it each week.

2Art - 2: Consistence is out the window for all out artistic freedom it seems. Not much to work with in terms of structure so Clugston is flying blind with the crapfest of writing we're dished out this issue. Sad that the cover artists and the interior artist seem to be defining the story in two completely different directions.

3Cover Art - 3: Who are the Bat-Squad? Gimme a break, take a look... no seriously even a non-comics reader could pick them out of the DCU! At least J Bone has been a bit more creative with the designs than Clugston...
