August 31, 2016: Dan Jurgens Talks “Action Comics”, Mr Oz, and Powerless Clark Kent

ACTION_variant_Cv964In an interview with Newsarama.com, “Action Comics” writer Dan Jurgens talks about the mysteries that abound in current continuity, who is “Mr Oz”, who is this powerless Clark Kent, and how will Lois deal with working at this version of the Daily Planet? Here’s a portion of the interview…

It looks like the next issue will attack the mystery of the “other” Clark Kent. Is he a secret from the “New 52” Superman’s past?

Jurgens: The next two issues will really feature Superman trying to come to an understanding of who, exactly, this mysterious new version of Clark Kent is.

As for whether or not it’s someone from his past, well, it certainly could be.

Or then again, maybe not!

And Lois Lane appears to be heading back to The Daily Planet? We’ve seen her there before, of course, but how is this different?

Jurgens: It’s going to be different for Lois, of course, because she is not the Lois that had been working there. That gives her a new and immediate hurdle to cope with.

At the same time, how weird is it going to be for her if she’s working with a Clark Kent that she knows can’t possibly be Clark Kent?

I read that she “died” the same way as New 52 Superman. I doubt they are really dead and I’m sure they will be back at some point.

I think it’s a little too on the nose that Mr Oz will be Ozymandias from the Watchmen universe… I think Jurgens will throw us a curve ball.

The Rebirth special definitely made me think Mr. Oz was Ozymandias, but thus far in Action Comics, I’m not so sure. Curious to find out.

Anybody else notice the red boots on the Super-suit in that picture? Cool image, either way!

Hey! You’re right. I didn’t notice it at first but once you look better the difference in the colour’s tone is there. Subtle but there.

I think there are some things that they should be allowed to answer without spoiling the real story. Controlled answers are usually better than not knowing anything. Most of the times they add more hype than anything and keep us waiting until something happens. We all know that this level of excellence can’t be kept forever and when those times come a Little of hype keeps us interested. One of them is Mr. Oz’s identity. Saying yes or no won’t spoil the story and allows us to think make opinions, discuss… Just like when we know who will be the… Read more »
